Because I totally feel the same way about Mapleshade.
But you're a Sol-Holly shipper, but I'm a HollyxFallen shipper.

I'm seriously working on a Mapleshade Fanfiction about her as a kit through adulthood and it goes into much more detail than the Mapleshade's Vengeance book. Sadly, I haven't finished the prologue even as i am working on a dog story about when humans desert a city. Yeah, I've loved the FallenxHolly ship, but I read a fanfiction about Holly running away to be with Sol, and it and my heart went with her, away from the Clan and away from the tunnels.

I like Mapleshade too, and she really didn't deserve all that pain. I pity her. But that doesn't make what she did okay and she did a lot of really bad stuff.
Other cats felt a lot of pain, perhaps more than she did, but they stayed honorable to the very end.

Take Yellowfang for example, she loved Raggedstar and always wanted to be a warrior, but that got taken away when she was forced to be a medicine cat. Then Raggedstar got mad at her and pretended to love another cat and Yellowfang discovered discovered that she was pregnant. Her kits are born and two die, the third is given to another she-cat to raise and is bullied and mistreated. Whenever she tries to spend time with him the other kits tease him for it. Then he grows up, becomes deputy and murders his father. (I'm not sure if Yellowfang knew this.)
Then he becomes a killer and does all this bad stuff including stealing Yellowfang's younger siblings out of the nursery and secretly 'trains' them to death. Yellowfang finds them and he blames it on her and kicks her out of the clan. Much later she feels guilty because the other clans attack Thunderclan for sheltering her blind son who repays their kindness by plotting with Tigerclaw. So she kills him and feels guilty about that.
But in the end she goes to Starclan. The only major things that she did in her life that could be considered bad were getting pregnant and killing her son. But when you think about it, killing Brokentail was necessary to save lives.

So yeah, I pity Mapleshade but she deserves the Dark Forest after what she did.

Ah, I love fanfictions, but I usually don't ship them solely from a fanfic. xD I usually stick to canon things, since Fallen Leaves, does show signs of liking Hollyleaf. And I think that Vicky said that Hollyleaf and Fallen Leaves become mates after she dies.

True, although he didn't actually kill anyone he certainly tried to.

Yes, but that doesn't make him any better. He still intended to, and it doesn't matter whether he succeeded or not. He showed what's in his heart, without any signs of remorse. He broke the code in so many ways. Where was his loyalty to the clan and leader when he conceived a plan with an enemy warrior to kill Firestar? Or what about when he tried to kill his own apprentice in battle? His worst crime? Attempting to kill three innocent cats?
Even in real life, the punishment for attempted murder can be the same as actually murdering someone. Truthfully, he should've gone to the Dark Forest. Four cats, he tried to end the life of four cats, just because of his jealousy toward Brambleclaw/star, and his anger toward his ex-girlfriend. He just went to the Dark Forest because the Erins favored him, and couldn't bear to send their poor, wittle Ashy-fur to hell.
