Alright, so I did my entry for the Summer Art contest while on vacation at my family cottage over the weekend. I only had markers up there, so that is what I used to colour in my artwork. However, there is a bit of a story behind it.

Originally, I wanted to do a Summer sunset theme with fishing in it on the shore of the lake. My Saturday night experience changed that. I was having a campfire with some family members, and later on I went to the dock to do some star gazing. My Dad and I saw a shooting star while on the dock, so I decided to make a wish. I wished to have a great time at the cottage with my family, and hopefully see the Northern Lights. Well, less than 10 minutes later, I started to see something strange. It was very faint, but it looked almost like shafts of very faint light were appearing behind some of the trees on the other side of the lake. After another minute or so, those shafts/beams of light could be made out to be green, and it was actually the Northern Lights! I yelled for the rest of my family and went in the cottage to get everyone that wasn't outside. We all stayed out on the dock for a good half hour enjoying the show. In fact, some neighbours a couple of cottages down heard me yelling and also went out on their dock and watched as well. I've seen the Northern Lights a couple of times before, but not like this. Instead of them looking like they appear in the images you can find, the Northern Lights appeared like I described earlier, like shafts or beams of light stretching out from behind the trees to the north, straight up as if going South or as high in the sky as they could. The kept fading and reappearing in slightly different places. The Northern Lights I saw were a pale green colour. This experience with my family made my summer! :)

Normally, people associate viewing the Northern Lights with Winter, but they can be seen in the Summer too. So, I decided to change my artwork entry to reflect my latest Summer activity. I have my Ny'vene, Andrasa the Nebular Flame, with her tail wrapped around my latest Aeridini, Kasha the Lake Jewel, while the two watch the Northern Lights together. I used my vantage point at the cottage as the inspiration and backdrop for my two Sylesties as they watch one of the greatest wonders of the world unfold.

I drew my nixi Mocha Cream napping in an inner tube under the sun :D apologies for not being able to find my pencils, color or lead. I used pen and paper. I wonder if she realizes how dangerous the water could be for her little clock ornament o:
