The process is automatic. Every time you gain points it checks to see if you've earned your next 50. If you have, it adds a Chocolate Coin to your Inventory and subtracts 50 from the tracker.

so you can only get coins if you trick or treat? sorry im still a bit confused.

As of this moment, yes.
We will be adding more methods of earning Chocolate Coins later today. I will make an announcement once the methods are available.
