I realized I never answered your question in your post about the name Hiraeth. I'm sorry! Here's your answer:
Hiraeth is a feeling that describes the longing for a home that never was, or the places in your past you're beginning to forget. I feel it is very fitting (and not just a pretty name lol) for the series because Light is trying to find his home, both physically and in his heart. He deals with being an outcast, losing his friends and memory, and learning that pretty much his entire life was a lie.

Regarding Comic and Hiraeth-Related Art:
I don't know if there will be a full-fledged comic for Hiraeth. However, I intend to upload little snippets of the books I wanted to put into art, as well as scenes and titlecards. Perhaps I'll compile enough to make a comic lol. But my artstyle is ever evolving, and I don't want a half-completed work that I abandon halfway through because I hate it. :) I hope you understand.

Also, wow, I'm not dead. I was actually working on a fanfiction type thing instead and trying to drive myself insane via hyperrealistic cityscape painting. :/ I am definitely a perfectionist. Perhaps it's my fatal flaw...

He is an anime protagonist x)
I initially based him off a few different existing protagonists, don't remember who tho. He started off as a character who could interact with the spirit world (think Nico, PJO) and stuff like that but... i guess i scrapped it for some reason idk
funny story i was scrolling through instagram and saw a thread about Death Note (whose main characters is 'coincidentally' also named Light) and I was really confused because I forgot he existed. heh
Also, what about the characters? I don't want to give too much of the story/their backstories away because I want people to read the book for themselves lol.
