I had intended to write a script that will automatically unlock the Avatar Items as they become available. However, I forgot to write said script and then also didn't manually unlock them either.

Today's items are unlocked now though.

You can use the Advent Calendar and unlock all the free gifts every day on the day they come out on the Advent Calendar.
The only part of the calendar that costs money is the Premium Advent Calendar. The Premium Advent Calendar is optional, you don't have to buy it.
Regardless of if you have the Premium Advent Calendar, you still have access the Free Advent Calendar. So so long as you login every day, you can claim that day's prize for the Free Advent Calendar.

Was the corgi pet not unlocked? I had purchased the bonus gifts from advent calander and when i clicked the box today it vanished and nothing went to inventory?

The corgi is a costume, and costumes are considered Equipment.
