Vitalus paused in reading and nods his head at Gabriel.

"Greeeeeaaaat," Asmodeus mutters, poking at the ground with a stick. "I shoulda listened to my gut. I knew we shouldn't have come out here."

"we can't stay here for that long." i say, standing up. " well you obviously don't know how to fight stalkers so you're just going to have to" Gabriel grumbles. he's right, we had no idea how to fight those things, without his help we would have been dead. "then teach us." i challenge "if we don't know how to fight them, then teach us." Gabriel scoffs, rolling his eyes.

"you think you can fight one of those? they'll kill you in an instant! you could never take on one of those alone!" he dismisses. "maybe not alone, but as a group. we aren't splitting up anytime soon, and when we reach the village there will be even more of us to fight." i counter, determined. gabriel thinks for a few minutes before finally answering. "that... could work." he agrees reluctantly, nodding to himself. "but you would need different weapons. those guns and knives aren't going to work"

"If it's possible," Asmodeus says, standing up. "I wouldn't be opposed to learning how to fight these 'stalker' things. Andromeda is right."

Vitalus sighed and gently closed the book. He is still listening into the conversation.

I just dont know if we should we dont knw anything about these stlkers i say queitly ....

"mizuki is right" gabriel says "you know nothing about stalkers, i've worked hard to keep you from seeing them. so we will start with learning- about everything i've been keeping from your people." he says, walking over to his bed.

flipping the mattress he shoves his hand into a hole in the bottom of the mattress, pulling from it a worn book with a leather cover. putting the mattress back he opens the book, regarding the curly, elegant handwriting with reverence. "this was written by my mother, not long after the bombs went off some ninety or so years ago. i've added to it, of course. it contains everything i know, about me. about stalkers. about everything." he says, closing the book. "and i will teach it to you"

Vitalus sighed and starts to look at them.

Were open to learning i say wt a smile ....

"lets start with making weapons first, follow me outside." he instructs, already heading down the stairs. i follow him, along with everybody else. when we get outside, he begins looking around, poking at the underbrush and the trees until he comes upon a cluster of what look to be sticks jammed in the ground. he pulls one out, revealing it is Infact a plant. grabbing a small knife from his belt, he cuts the bottom off of it, removing the roots. he does the same with a large portion of the top, leaving him with only part of the middle, one end of which he quickly whittles away into a deadly looking edge.

"this will do you much more good than any knife or gun" he says, brandishing the spear "it cannot be discharged accidentally, and if broken it serves as two weapons, instead of leaving you defenseless." he explains, handing the spear to mizuki before making another one. this one he keeps for himself, twirling it in the air to show off how it works. "first you will need to know how to make one before you can wield one" he says, slamming the blunt end of it into the dirt. "wood must be taken from a stickling, that's what these plants are called. you don't want one that's too young, the wood will be green inside and it will break easily, be too flimsy. you don't want one that's too old, it will be brittle and snap when you try to use it." he explains. "and you don't want to use bamboo, it is hollow inside so you wont me able to sharpen it into a point. there is a patch of stickling over there, try to find one you think is perfect then return. you can use the one i made for reference, it will make it easier"
