He inched the floating knife of smoke against his throat, clearing his own throat.
"You're making this a pain, aren't you? Good grief.
Sure, I'd love to chat up Mikal once more, but I'm asking you. Now we can either get to it or we can continue to play this game. I'm a patient man, so we can go with either option, but.." He ashed his cigarette onto the grass.
"I suggest for your sake, you go with the intelligent option, Mr. Allen. It would be a shame if anything happened to you or that friend of yours if you failed to cooperate with some simple questions."

"You know it's our job here to never let that happen. To you. Or anyone else. I don't think I'd mind you helping out since it always feels like we're short staffed around here.
Most of the other departments have their hands full just trying to deal with regular crimes, let alone any linked to Salvation Silence or any other Marked that get crazy ideas, so we really haven't had much time or resources to go out and pull officers from other prefectures when the rest of the country still has such a hard time believing that any of this even exists..
But if you're willing to help us put a stop to them, then welcome aboard. There's many lives that'd be in your hands and I'm sure all of them would be grateful."

DeHaro's expression was stern and determined, but he had a calm smile. He clearly meant what he said.

He pulled the right sleeve of his uniform, showing her the vine-like marking on his forearm.
"I try not to. Yuuko's Marked too. Mimi.. er.. Detective Miyahara doesn't care much for Marked usually, but if you're a nice enough person, she'll come around. Can't say the same for the rest of the department, but at least in my branch, you're fine here and I won't let anyone treat you badly."

He dropped his sleeve and held out his hand to her.
"Detective Ryuji DeHaro. Most people around here just call me by my last name or Haro though. I don't really mind either." He said with a laugh.
"You know, usually we'd have people go get certified through the academy before applying with us, but with how urgent all this is getting, it might be better just to train on the job. How are you with firearms and you have any other special skills? Other than the mark anyways, though I'd still like to know what your power is if you plan on ever using it here."

She stared at his hand nervously. She had her regular gloved on, exposing some of her skin, so she was not about to risk shaking his hand. She had yet to learn to control her 'gift.'
"I am okay with a pistol, and I have a gift for technology. I have created various contraptions and trinkets that serve various purposes such as my voice tracker."
She rubbed her arm nervously before going on to explain her mark.
" I uh...I'm not going to shake your hand. It could seriously hurt you. I absorb energy like a sponge, but only from living things upon physical contact. To long results in my targets' unconsciousness, next comes heart failure and death. I'd not like to use it unless completely necessary."

DeHaro pulled his hand back, rubbing the back of his head awkwardly.
"It's fine, fine ..Good to know about that power though. Good thing I asked." He said with a bit of a laugh.
"And well, we've always got time for more formal training later.. So okay is good enough for me. As long as you know how to use a gun safely..
But a tech expert, huh? Sure Yuu could appreciate the hand around here. He's been our intel guy for the last few months, but he knows his stuff when it comes to that too. But.. he can be a little hard to get along with at first. He really doesn't like talking to most people unless they're worth his time. Pretty blunt too, but once you get past all that.. He's not too bad. Just figured I'd give you a heads up.
