You go for a few strokes before you become tired and put your hoofs down, luckily you had gotten high enough to stand.

I decide to try and use this to my advantage,i paddle slight in the direction of the current but tilted to the shore

The current rushes until is slows into a tiny alcove blocked by a boulder, you reach the boulder safely, You gained one level in swimming.
