I keep trying to throw the spear as gabriel says ....

Asmodeus, taking care not to prick himself, places his hands on the spear and hurls it at the trunk of a tree. His posture is mostly good, although the altar boy is a little stiff.

"not bad" gabriel says, looking at Asmodues. "you're a little stiff, though. loosen up" he says, waving vitalus up. "i want all of you to continue practicing, then i'll teach you close range combat with the spears" he says, retrieving his spear from the tree and stepping back.

Vitalus nods and came up to Gabriel but still on guard not liking where this is going.

Asmodeus sighs, relaxing a little. He's been on edge all day, so it figures that he's a little tense. He retrieves his spear and tries again, better this time.

Rue finds two good sticklings and expertly sharpens them into a point. She helps Roman as he gets is distracted by Sidhe, who is growling quietly at the shadows in the woods. Cocoa is off to the other side keeping watch over there. She gets into position and takes aim. She hits her target and drags Roman over to show him how. He somehow manages to poke Rue in the eye with the blunt end causing her to stalk off to stand by Sidhe, swearing under her breath. (she isn't severely injured just annoyed and sore now)

"i think that's enough practicing" Gabriel says, after about half an hour of us throwing the spears we made. "now i'm going to teach you how to block" taking his spear again, he orders rue to grab hers as well and help him with his demonstration. "i want you to try and fight me from this close, don't throw your spear, just try to use it against me" he says, getting in position.

rue does as he says, jabbing her spear at him. in the blink of an eye, Gabriel raises his spear and blocks her attach with the middle, twisting and using her momentum to throw her to the ground, where he points his spear at the back of her head. "this is usually where you would kill your opponent" he says, giving her a tap on the back of the skull for emphasis "but not during training."
