Cana's Somewhat Daily Yeet
Hi everyone! Throw pancakes at Wolfiesparks, Spireofbone, and Kittyauthor to welcome them (if you haven't already xD). I think that's everyone who joined?
I updated the pinglist but I'm too lazy to put you guys on the list at the moment, I will get to it... eventually.
Yes, I have an obsession with centerizing things.
Also, I might have an avi design contest that has absolutely nothing to do with this club, but what do we even do here again?
So I went to a Thanksgiving (also my older brother's birthday) party yesterday (yes, I know, parties are torture).
It was... cool.
So the parents were getting slightly drunk and singing karaoke in... interesting keys, and the older siblings/college students were showing off their 100+ wpm typing skills.
And for some reason my friend was explaining to a 10-year-old boy that it is okay to like other boys, which led to Jayden explaining certain things that 10-year-olds shouldn't know about to the same kid (and all of us trying to shut him up), that somehow led to me trying to explain asexuality to this kid.
Not to mention everyone was singing Frozen at the same time.
Fun.
Meanwhile, my friend was drawing this:
"It's not even good, ugh, don't even look at it" *attempts to cover entire computer screen with hands*
- Friend, 2019.
And then she was reading my writing and I totally understood.
Fortunately, there was a fidget spinner in the room.
Just, like imagine me hyperventilating and pretending not to care.
Also, I somehow got abandoned several times after that, and I think I may have turned invisible accidentally.
My younger cousin came here from Malaysia, and he was trying to memorize the 13 states and their capitals (of Malaysia).
I was being very encouraging.
"Come on, you can do this! At least you don't have to memorize 50!"
*insert me singing the 50 states and capitals song*
He was not amused.

Because... because Jayden does that.
Then helpfully, I was like "Oh but you don't have to!"

I went to dinner at a friend's house. Moved to FL from SF Bay and one of the first people I met is from Chico. And her friend, also from Chico, lives right across the street. So we all had dinner together and looked funny at people who were kvetching because it's not cold enough to be Thanksgiving (because Cali...)
I, too, am a bit of a grammar nerd. I saw that earlier in the post somewhere. I was copy editor of my high school and university newspapers back in the Dark Ages. Let me talk about a few homophones that drive me a little crazy.
1. If it belongs to us it's "our" not "are".
2. Too, to and two.
3. "It's" means "it is". Its means "belonging to it". If you can say "my" and the sentence makes sense, use "its". If it doesn't and requires "it is" or "you are" or something of that ilk then use "it's".
4. Long ago someone got lazy and decided that "could've, should've, would've" should be legitimate contractions for "could have, should have, would have" and now we have the word "of" there in the sentence instead all over the internet. If it sounds like it should be "should have" as in "I should have done my homework earlier" there is no "of" in the sentence.
5. Their, there and they're.
That ought to about cover it. :)
