Aria the forest sprite loves the fall, she helps usher in the change of seasons by helping the plant life transition into dormancy. The wonderful colors light up her eyes every time. She loves when the leaves form a mosaic of reds, yellows, and oranges that swirl up into the air with the wind. Running through fields of fallen leaves, tossing them in the air with glee, and laying upon a bed of beautiful colors are some of her favorite things. For Aria, this is the most joyful time of the year and has the best foods as they tend to be comforting and warm.

Reyna Lokee the Trickster of Fall

Fall is upon us and with a swirl of leaves we see things that trick our eyes. Was that a little imp running between the trees? Behind the pumpkin, what is moving? The crackling of leaves when no one is around? Perchance it is Reyna Lokee playing her tricks!
The moon is shining, the wind is racing, and clouds track across the sky. And Reyna is sparkling with energy and ideas as new thoughts of tricks run through her mind! What should she do next? She has already sent her Demonic Guardian, Diony, to play with the people walking on the path. Maybe it is time to send her little Griffi, Kuma Li to mess with the children as they sleep? I am sure Reyna will devise some great tricks to scare us and make our hearts race as she is the Trickster of Fall.

Chrysopeleia was a tenderhearted dryad of the ancient forest that had been her home from time beyond memory, she lived with her sister nymphs and fellow fae and woodland creatures singing, foraging and weaving. One night her song enchanted a powerful vampire lord as he passed by the wood. Determined to have her he tried to make her into one of brood of night children. A dryad is not a mortal easily corrupted into a creature of death and darkness and so she retained much of her original nature. She resisted her sire's pull on her and sent him to the grave in which he belonged. Tragically it did not release her from her curse. Now, a Dhampir she is neither night child or truly a Dryad and lacking a place in the world spends her eternity of nights hunting those that would defile her forest and those who call it home. The haunting melody of her mournful laments comfort those pure of heart and intent but strike terror into those possessed of malice and avarice.

Perhaps he was a family man in life. Perhaps he liked people. What matters is that now, in undeath, he is the general of an army of undead, set to destroy anything that stands in their way. Unfortunately, his power is waxing and waning, as is the moon. When the leaves start to brown and nature starts to stagnate is when they shall strike.

Is it a coincidence that the 31st is a full moon today? Perhaps, but eventually it was bound to happen. He feels untold power flowing through his veins as he raises his arm, and after, arms raise through the dirt of the graves as well. His undead army assembles, the groans rattling through rotten throats grow in number, and animated corpses gather around him. Surely his queen will be pleased while the living suffer, and they shall fuel the crusade of undeath.

It was Estrella's first Dia de Los Muertos without her older sister. She knew that it would be difficult when the festivities eventually came around, yet her grief still hung over her heavy as the day her beloved Mari passed, even as the street performers danced outside of her house. She gazed out of her window at the dancers, they were clad with colorful flowing dresses complete with the signature candy skull face paint.

"To disguise yourself at night to dance with the dead." She sighed. She rose from her seat beside Mari's alter, where a candle was burning still, barely any wick left.

Putting the finishing touches of makeup on her face, Estrella glanced over at Mari's old mahogany closet, of which her sister had painted monarch butterflies all over the dark wood.

"I doubt she would mind..." Estrella whispered as she opened the closet's door. It made a loud yet comforting creaking sound that brought her back to her childhood, where she would play for hours dressing up with Mari. She instinctively reached for Mari's orange and black dress. Running her hands across the satin fabric, Estrella could feel her eyes begin to water. She then quickly pulled away and ran to the bathroom to change into the dress.
Stepping into the chilly autumn air, Estrella began to head to the graveyard. The sky was getting dark yet the graveyard was illuminated by candles of all colors and shapes, and as she approached it the music became louder. She could feel herself getting overwhelmed but she pushed herself forward, until she was finally at the quieter corner of the graveyard, where Mari had been laid to rest earlier that year. She ran her hand over Mari's gravestone and could feel her tears brimming. Just then, a shout is heard from across the graveyard over where the main festivities are being held. Estrella was initially alarmed until she heard cheers erupt from the crowd. She turned to look where the crowd of people were now pointing, squinting her eyes she could see faint orange flecks drifting in the wind. They grew closer to her and she gasped in awe.

Tears now freely flowing down her cheeks, Estrella lifted her hand into the air where a butterfly took temporary rest perched atop her finger. Estrella's voice was barely a whisper as she realized the truth within her traditions:

"My, what are you doing out in the Feywilds?"

You awake to see a figure standing before you. You've never seen one before, but you've heard stories about them. This is one of the fey. Your head hurts, your vision is a little blurry, and you're not exactly quite sure how you got here.

The figure stoops towards you.
"Such a peculiar creature. What is your name?"

Silence. You know better than to give your name to the fey and you are not having your name stolen, not today.

The faerie grins and stands back. Suddenly there was movement behind her that caught your eyes. A slender orange and black dragon slinks up beside her and stands on its hind legs. It is carrying a pail in its mouth. You're not sure what's in it but you can hear something rolling around inside. She places her hand on the back of its neck and begins to pet its fur.
"Clever boy."

The leaves crunch beneath your hands as you try to sit up. Your vision has become much clearer now that you've entirely come to. As you get your bearings, you start to examine the faerie in front of you. She seems to be rather peculiar. A light breeze seems to follow her at all times, creating a small whirlwind of leaves around her. Her yellow eyes stand out against her pale skin, and it appears as if they have a soft glow.

You then change your focus from her face to her outfit. The fabric of her dress, while elegant, was beginning to tatter and fray. There were lots of dangly bits attached. Lots of shiny gems and bits and baubles. But wait... what were those bits and baubles? You focus on them for a moment and realize that they were bones. The charms, the corset, the clips for her cloak, those are all bones.

'Oh no.'

You've heard many tales about the fey when you were growing up. Some were kind and benevolent creatures; others were foul tricksters. You're beginning to think you aren't dealing with one of the nicer ones.

On All Hallows' Eve, when the moon shines red,
A demon rises from the realm of the dead.
Who hungers for souls and thirsts for fear,
Seeking to sate both when she comes here.

Golden eyes out from the darkness do shine,
Breath like frost shivering down a spine.
She preys on the weak, the lost and the trite,
Enticing them near with her phantom light.

Through the city she prowls, silent and sly,
Cruel mirth snow-soft through the night sky.
Beware, be warned, for she draws within sight,
Feasting on souls, spreading panic and fright.

Let a candle burn, within a pumpkin's embrace,
To keep spirits at bay with its flickering grace.
Lock the doors, say a prayer and don't cry,
And hope that it all works and she stalks by.

Even with the chilly weather of fall, there's still much life to be found. Asterinia is an autumn spirit who watches over the last remaining green before snow finally blankets the ground in white. The flowers bloom in orange, white, and purples aiding pollinators at the end of the season. Her kitten Goldenrod helps keep her company.

With her dragon companion, Leif, the forest fairy Lianya is responsible for turning the leaves in autumn - she's invisible to most humans, but those who are especially sensitive might hear her tinkling laugh in they listen very carefully on a walk through the forest. Don't follow the sound though, or you might get trapped in fairy land.
