Not real-life auctions, they go until people stop bidding.

I've seen on some pet auction threads 'snipe protection' that extends the auction a few minutes if there is a bid placed toward the very end... why not implement a system like that? Any eggs with bids placed in the last minute are extended a further two minutes or something before closing.
That would make them much more like a real auction, and allow more people the chance to bid without having to worry about sniping so much.

Oh okay, I have never bid in a real life auction.I have watched them on tv though......woops...

But then if they extended the time every time someone snipped the time would probably keep extending.

Yes, much like a real auction, it would keep going (only on those eggs that had been sniped at, of course) until the price reached beyond what they were willing to pay.
However, I'm not sure that people would bother waiting until the last second if they knew their sniping attempt wouldn't succeed. It might make things move more
Either way, I'd consider losing because of the bid amount (which is kind of the point of an auction to begin with) a much more legitimate way to lose out than to have someone outbid you by the min bid at the last possible second.

For instance, I wanted one of the pets, and I was hoping to be able to get it since it was one not many people were bidding on. Instead, someone else bid a half-million more than my max bid twenty minutes before the auction ended.
It was saddening, but I knew there was no way to get that much within twenty minutes, so shrugged and moved on.
If, on the other hand, someone had outbid me by 1k at the last possible second, I would have been devastated. The potential of someone like me getting 2k in two minutes is far more within the realm of possibility than half a million; I could have sold my pets' equipment in an emergency. Thinking you're winning until there's no way to even try to take action, and losing by an amount you could most likely raise if needed, is about the worst outcome I could imagine, emotionally.
(Fortunately I've never been in that position, but I have the greatest sympathy for those who have.)

Whereas if there was a snipe protection system in place, other bidders would at least have the chance to counter-offer, and the threat of being so easily outbid would force would-be snipers to bid higher or risk getting into a prolonged bidding battle.
Any system you use will have its drawbacks, but I do think the rampant last-second sniping can only be bad for the auction system's future.

Maybe.....I mean I have been snipped before at the last second....but the item that I would have got wasn't that good anyways....

But I mean do we really need that? There are so many other things that Krin said he was going to do.I don't really think that's a top priority....

The image is actually a bit off - the mutation color for the wings is glitched and left blank, which turns it pure white by default. Pet search and hatchery page images show the actual colors. :)

And she is so lovely!! Congrats on the win! :D

Thanks Xavion. In my hatchery, for me, it showed the white, so I'm glad you were able to get the right colours~
