Having high health can be good. In fact, I use a all points in health team for my arena battles. Having all points in health means your pets are least likely to die in battles, and when you use mend, they recover more health points, since the amount of health recovered is a percentage of the full health. This is very useful for the wave battle I the arena, since elixirs cannot be used there, my pets have more buffer between each time I can use mend, and will recover more health points each time, so they will last slightly longer till the next mend.
The main downside to an all health team is that for most battles, your pet can't deal a lot of damage, so it makes for longer battles than necessary.
But yeah, main thing to note is the strength vs intelligence thing. Else you would have points that are wasted since your pets are not using them. Otherwise, how you assign points to the rest of the stats in more a matter of preference, and "best fit" for different kinds of battles.
When you're fighting, under the enemies stats (and your own), sometimes there are symbols that appear there. If you hover your mouse over it, you can see a description. Some increases mitigation, some reduces damage dealt, some deal damage over time. For bosses, you'll usually see a symbol before they do a special move.
Can't remember what the symbol look like, but keep an eye on anything that appear on the enemies, and read the battle log. You should be able to figure out a pattern. Block accordingly, and your pets won;t be knocked out by the tsunami.
Hey!
So I've given this boss a couple of shots and in the end just been slowly, agonizingly ground to death. I've read in a few places that the icon should appear letting you know that the tsunami is coming but have never seen it. I also tried the brute force method of just blocking a few turns in a row (starting with full mana) and was still hit by the tsunami (and i still had enough mana to effectively block). Is this happening to anyone else?
Thanks in advance!
Btw, my party includes the following sylesti:
Danny - tank - main active sylesti
