So here's my entry, the workspace was very messy at the end. Materials included construction paper, fun foam, my little brother's glue stick, some kitchen scissors and markers.

Yep.

This is the first contest I've ever entered on Syestia! :) I thought of this play on words and wanted to get it in before anyone else thought of it. I hope you like it!

the second step was adding a little more detail to the pup and some bushes in the background to make that "Lost Grove" detail.

Here's the finished project in some better lighting. my bedroom desk lighting was horrible, so i used the kitchen light. I hope you like it! It took about 3 hours. Happy Week of Love!

i don't know what's going on with it, but i hope my entry post fits the requirements. are you able to acces the pictures? (this is my first time)

Holy cow, I went to Micheals at 10 am to get supplies, and now its 7! 9 hours on it so far, and I don't really know if it's going well, I'm more of a painter, not a sculptor:O!

Gotta let it dry overnight, but here is my progress so far...

The Supplies:

Paint too, but I literally have a large box full of the stuff, and my camera could not focus on it to save it's life!

The scuplting:

It's a log, with a toilet paper roll to give it its shape...how romantic:)

Our new species is taking shape, but she seems to be missing her wits...

She's finished, but quite lonely

Now she has a mate that will adoringly watch over her

This took me 14 hours to sculpt, I have a newfound respect for people who like to sculpt:)

The painting:
After waiting for 48 hours to make sure it was dry and sanding down some rough edges...

Beginning to paint the log, where I added a vine just to add dimension.

...And detailed it with leaves!

Then I began to paint the new species, where I decided I wanted them to have similar, but not exact shades to each other. (Where my dog, salting because I bathed him, came and broke an antler:|)

And the main piece is done! The heart says: Sealed in a lost grove, In each other's eyes we dove, A whole world we did discover, In the soul of our lover


Heres A couple pictures of the finished valentine, which will be used as a display for a party tomorrow:)
I made triple chocolate cupcakes (chocolate cake mix, dry pudding mix, and chocolate chips) and attempted a rose frosting design and wrapped tinsel around them, with the sculpture situated at the back so people won't break it.
I didn't realize how difficult it is to see my username it these pictures, I am so sorry!

So, my original plan was to get some coloured construction paper and make a Valentine. However, the Dollar Store was out of coloured paper, so I had to go to my standby. Without futher ado, here is my Play-Doh Sylestia Valentine! :)



First up, here's what I used to make my Valentine~

Is that the new species sticking it's head out? Also, I drew inspiration for the vines from the art of the plants around the Lost Grove potions.

Close up of the details I put into this Valentine. And yes, it is very intentional that I made it look like the new species is mocking us for not being able to go into the Lost Grove yet. ;P


I had a lot of fun with this one. It took a few hours, but I think I like this better than my original idea.

For the new species, I printed out the Christmas colouring page, cut out the image of the new species and then scanned it, enlarged the image and printed it out again. Then I traced the outline and drew in the other lines to look as similar as I could to the line art.





If the image is unreadable, the writing says:

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
I would get Lost,
In a Grove without you

Was really awkward taking the photos as they were taken from a pc in bad lighting :/

And I live in Australia, this was made on Saturday, the 10th of February from 2:30pm - 4:30pm


Edit:

I decided to color the new species ^^ I bought Sparkly gel pens to use, but didn't like the pink so I used one of my own frixion erasable pens for the pink and glitter. I also bolded the letters and traced the lines of the species with a black pen.





Time took about 1hour to colour, excluding going to the supermarket and getting the gel pens :P

I'll put in the next photo when glitter has dried cx

Note to self: Never, ever use glitter again.
