My youngest neice and I decided to make a gingerbread house. This is our result. It might not be the prettiest thing ever but it's ours and we're proud of it :D

Here is my entry for this year. Didn't quite turn out as i envisioned but I know where i went wrong for next years attempt :) So this year I decided to try making it without any form of guide (purely because I couldn't find any for a double storey house XD) so overall I don't think it turned out too bad considering it could have ended up as a giant pile of crumbs XD
I apologise for the limited photos, I plan to get more with next year's attempt :)
Once again I made my house completely from scratch this year :)
The dough is ready to chill out in the fridge for a while :)
Ready to go in the oven...
Fully assembled :)

Here's my entry! <3
I used icing to write my name, it got kinda smudged in the completed pic tho. but it does say 2019, not 2014. I hope it's good enough proof.
I used a kit. it's pretty small, as you can probably tell.
Work in progress shot! Lots of icing.
The house has been assembled!
Full house. I went for a blue/white theme. Owo

Found a chocolate cookie house set.
Started assembling
Frosted the roof.
I initially used some of the blue candies that came with the set, but I didn't like how they looked compared to the light blue chocolate pearls and ended up replacing them.

This house is 100% scratch, other than the candy. even most of the stencils were hand made. The board was also hand made, which is apparent inside the house.
Getting started: This is just the first batch. I made another half batch later on.
Hand crafted my gingerbread house stencils as well as the large elephant stencil. The smaller elephants and gingerbread people were cookie cutters. Don't press/roll your stencil into your dough unless your looking for the added texture... I was not.
Everything is baked, the gingerbread has been trimmed and sanded (note the gingerbread dust piles) My 1 year old came over and sat under the falling dust. She now distinctly smells of gingerbread. 2 pieces have broken off and they are key pieces. Outlook is bleak. It's time to make the royal icing (I pasteurized the eggs before making the icing with them) Icing is my last hope. I'm out of molasses and not going back to the store.
Construction begins- note to self- include triangle shapes attached to walls before baking. I really am surprised this worked...so far. Thank you egg crate and un-pictured remote control holding up egg crate. Also Royal icing fixes breaks.
We are back in business. I'm still figuring out how to hide the issue and make a brick facade. Again shoulda cut those in before baking.
Elephants are outlined. They look a little funny. Bigger ears on the stencil next time. Also pro tip- use your stencil to provide your username in the pictures. Also another pro tip- don't let your cookies hang over the edge or you will bump them and they will fall and die. Opps. I'm so sorry elephant, RIP.
And done :)
Next time we will let it snow before the animals head outside. They are headstrong though, what can I say?
It's the largest fish in the pond... As big as a baby elephant!
It's really hard to see but there is an elephant in the window.
What a romatic first date
This is the elephant keeper, Dave.
Side View- Trees are made out of white chocolate.
My son was helping decorate. After the first mint, he lost interest and we went in a different direction. It felt wrong to remove it though. He also flattened the bushes after he helped me pipe them....
