Yea. It is only for pets bred from now on. It won't have any effect on pets bred prior to today.

It really has no negatives. In the worst case scenario, some of your pets will just have shorter cooldowns than those who were bred post midnight. However, none of them will have a longer cooldown than what it would have been prior. So it being the old way would not have been any real advantage at all.
