I'd like to suggest that the island mystic's g2 be changed to match the g1. As it is now, the g2 and a1 are the same so all that beautiful gradient in the nyte's wings are fully lost. For example:

the flying fox nyte's g1 and ac1 need to be changed, imo. the current orange makes it hard to pick out some traits, while the ac1 (which as fai pointed out, is ec) doesn't look good and/or isn't very visible with some genes.

untouched (dragon scales, jaguar shadow, leaf veins, sprinkles, etc.):

with a lighter g1 and darker ac1:

then there's the g2 colors. again, some are hardly visible and very bleh.

untouched (dragon fleckings, emperor moth, swallowtail, rosella):

with a pale yellow g2 and the same ac1 from my changes above:

the g3 green is too bright on some traits. while it looks good on elegant and lucky runes, it makes other traits kinda.... weird to look at. (tribal markings and elegant runes)

so i'd suggest a very pale, almost white tan color in place of the green.

my last change is to make ac2 a nice light yellow-green for contrast. (enchanter's shawl/mask, tribal jewelry/mask)

original proposition vs my changes

I think the Misty Flower theme would look pretty with slightly more distinction in its colors:
Current Colors----->Suggested Colors

This is exactly what I was (apparently too) vaguely talking about when I mentioned this theme in my original comment. *Nods* The currently proposed color palette is too washed out, monochromatic, whatever word you want to use. I like yours much better 8). *Nods again*

Multiple traits on the Patriotic nytes suffer because the trait and accent/eye colors are the same, especially the moon mutations:

Which would be helped if the eye color & accent 2 were changed to the red:

Old vs. New

I also noticed that the g2 of the Storm Heralds are the same as the c1, which makes the wings stuck being mainly dark no matter what gene you have there. The wings in the old version looked far lighter in comparison:

I messed with the g2 until it looked close to the effect of the old picture, and also toned down m2 a bit because it looked a little too saturated on some traits like tribal covering to me:

The Yuletide Trees also have the problem of repeating the c1. C1 should not be repeated in a theme palette, it's already everywhere and makes it look plain with the vast majority of trait combinations. I darkened m1 and m3 to help with this. I'm also seconding Limor's suggestion to change g1, I made it a reddish brown:

Reading through what everyone else has written, issues mostly come down to two things:
1. colors now appear duller/muted, probably because of the new shading?
2. the wings are no longer the colors they used to be, because different color hexes now match to different parts of the wings.

The first is relatively easy to fix, but what about the second? I don't know if that means Devs/Artists would have to redo the artwork or coding :(
If it's not too big of a change, I would love to see how it would look to remap the wing/base colors the same way the old ones did.

don't mind me, just gonna keep looking at themed nytes and suggesting changes >w>

onto the muddy snow theme! my main issue with this theme is that a lot of the colors are FAR too similar in comparison. while it worked before the revamp, it now messes with some traits. looking at fai's design in the generator, there are four color slots (g1, g3, m1, m3) that are all the same shade of brown. while it works with m1 and m3 because the mutations correspond with each other, it does not work for the gene colors. case in point (jaguar shadow + downy woodpecker; partridge + tribal markings; underbelly + elegant runes):

the g2 and ac1 are also far too similar to discern a real difference between the two. (emperor moth, hawk, sprinkles, basically every traits that uses both colors)

here we have my changes to more represent the concept of 'muddy snow' (i didn't change g1). g2 = dark grey-brown; g3 = grey-tan; ac1 = an even dirtier grey-tan

this theme overall needs to have colors that don't look so alike lol. it makes it hard to tell traits apart

Tropical Fruit Nytekrie Suggestions

Faiona's Edits

My suggestions

Moved the orange to A1 so it shows on other traits, as it was rather prominent on the body and wings in my original design. Changed A2 to green the yellow and oranges don't overwhelm and work more as accents. Lightened M3 so it contrasts with the new A2.

If I may make a few suggestions for designs I had made...

Enchanted:
Tribal Armor was one of the few M2s that used Eye Color and it was extremely overpowered since it colored the entirety of the feathers; most traits in those slots did not use EC at all.unless or was like... sparkly gems. All single-color and not blended. Yellow was fine as a standalone, but with the yellow now trying to blend with blue it's atrocious. :/

Blue pls.

Or if a more targeted overhaul would be allowed... The new, more dynamic shading made the darker colors just... bland. Boring. TOO dark. Bit brighter brings back the 'enchanted' feel.

Barn Owl:
Genes could be done more dynamically now that there is more default color, and the no-trait wings could definitely use a little love. Original colors didn't take wing blending into account since there was none. The C29257 color has also gotten a little... extreme now that it's more prominent. Design was meant to be subtle since barn owls aren't particularly colorful.

Also not enough contrast in G1 and AC1.

Suggestion from

to

Although if more intricate overhauls are on the table..

Mixed Berry:

...

wow lots of pink on pink and way too much yellow .__.

I'm... I'm just gonna suggest the entirety of my redesign on this one...

Also no-trait is so much more appealing with my suggestion, and that's usually a priority for me since tamed themed usually don't have many, if any visibles, and even exclusives are limited.

Currently? \/

I'd actually be ashamed to have my name linked to that. Original colors did NOT land nicely with revamp. :/

Overall I'd say I'm pretty satisfied with most of the new color palettes. I'd say about half of them look perfect, in my opinion, and the other half could just use a few little color tweaks so that certain genes and mutations don't all blend in together. It's hard for me to say exactly which themes I think could use tweaks though because I look at them and thing a certain set needs work, look away, look at them again and then they look alright and another set looks like it could use tweaks. xD I guess that's what I get for not being a huge nyte person...although I'm hoping to see more nyte projects pop up soon because I would love to own a few 6v nytes of different themes now!

On another note, and this doesn't have anything to do with the themes and their colors, I'm curious to know if/when Plaguebringer from the Arena will be updated? I know they aren't a themed species but I'm hoping to do a project with them so it'd be kind of nice to know what's going to happen to them. :)

Plaguebringer pre-revamp in the generator

Post-revamp Plaguebringer vs. moving some colors around and tweaking the colors a bit

One other possibility where the points are brown instead of yellow and the feet stay a pale yellow

It is me, back again, this time with a theme which we didn't make so we can't say what their designer's opinions are on the matter, this is just us throwing some thoughts we had at a wall

Black Fairy Nytekrie

obviously quite a lot changed, here's a compaison between the proposal and our edits:

^ Brighten the Eye colour, since the new shading makes the colours darker
^ G1 blue, G2 red, G3 blue-purple, A1 brighter red
^ Brighten/edit C2/C3/A2

these are the six we own who I'm gonna be using for at least some examples in colours

here's what each of them (except for mr top right, since all his traits are covered by the others- rng sure was something with these guys for me) looks like with the proposed changes (also dropping the stardust for the later ones since we don't need to see it so many times):

At the very least I think something has to change, because here's Tribal Markings on the current proposal, and one without

(read: the trait is literally invisible)
RTC and Rosella (g3) with current proposed colours

vs edited colours
