She crouches in the underbrush, tiny paws folded underneath her. Her mother had left her and gone off to forage for food. She shivered. The woods seemed larger without her mother around...

She approached the ruined nest carefully, whatever had done this might still be lurking near by. She stepped carefully over the body of one of the nest's unfortunate owners and peered into the mess of smashed eggs. One was undamaged, it cracked and then hatched. She looked into the hatchlings eyes and knew she couldn't abandon it. Carefully she grabbed the hatchling by the scruff of its neck and carried it off into the night.

The airborne sylesti felt his heart soar inside of him, thrilled to have finally learned how to fly. His eyes closed, his soul engulfed in the feeling of absolute freedom. He had this moment all to himself. Such carelessness was what led to his tragic downfall. He had, unknowingly, drifted straight into someone else's territory. The owner of the area snarled under their breath, taking off and dipping sharply into a steep dive. They rammed hard into the intruder's side, hearing the blood-chilling snap of several ribs. The sylesti flailed, plummeting to his inevitable demise.

The sylesti paddled across the stream, they were a stranger to the waters but they needed to cross. The fire burned furiously on the shore to his back, he could feel the heat on the back of his neck. But someone else was watching him from within the depth, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. He just narrowly escaped the predators attack, but not unscathed.

She runs through the early in the morning to her favorite place. A beautiful clear creak, with a trickle of water running off of a nearby mountain, causing sparkling ripples in the water. She prances underneath the water, letting the glistening water run across her back, tossing her head around in joy while she plays and splashes in the cool stream.

He hauled himself shakily onto shore and looked over his shoulder to be sure it was gone. Stupid, Stupid! Everyone had warned him not to enter the lake but had he listened? No of course not. He looked down at his blood soaked chest and felt sick. Who was he to think he could take on the guardian of the lake. But the guardian must be defeated or else his people would be doomed. Vowing to return one day, stronger and wiser than before he crawled away to tend to his wounds.

He dipped his muzzle into the pool and drank deeply. How lucky he was to have stumbled across this oasis. He had been wandering the desert for months now and had barely encountered a soul. He was lonely and tired. He lifted his head and nearly choked on the water as he caught sight of her. One of his kin, the first he had seen in what was possibly years was making her way to the opposite bank of the pool.

As this Sylesti wandered through a meadow of flowers, playing with it's friends, it heard a noise and fled the scene
