The sylesti crawled through the mud begging for food. A lone carriage winding through the grimy streets soon came into view. The sylesti crawled into the middle of the road causing the carriage to come to a grueling halt. The voice of the noble man can be heard whispering to the driver. the carriage driver cracks his whip causing the carriage to speed off, leaving the poor sylesti covered in more putrid mud. The sylesti muttered a curse under their breath and smiled as the carriage driver fell dead, causing the carriage to careen of path into a wall.

His master was vanquished by his own hands. He stood above the corpse of the one that had subjugated him for so many years. It had been so easy. He was free to escape, find out what the outside word held for him, make a life for himself, but he didn't. Though the morning light shone through the manors windows beckoning him to leave this horrible place behind he continued to stare at the corpse. Finally he turned away and ascended the stairs to his masters chambers, now his own to preside over the empty manor.

The small creature scurried quietly through the infamously tall grass, searching frantically for her lost boy. They were only going to splash in the creek for a bit, and she let the boy down. She lost him. Her ears pricked as a trail of his scent wafted by her nose, guiding her over Blackberry hill, and hopefully, to the child she was supposed to protect.

The rain pounded down on the canvas of the tent as the sylesti leaned over their patient. This was not good, the gods must be upset with them. Accidents like this never happened, never! They didn't have the materials he needed to treat the patient. With a sigh the healer turned to their apprentice, "It's been to long and the gatherers have not returned with the herbs we needed. We will simply have to preform surgery as we don't have the medicines to heal it otherwise. I pray the storm will not conspire to foil our efforts today."

The Sylesti gazed upon the heat of a war being fought between two species, both hungry for the other's land. Tears began to collect at the corners of their eyes as they watched their partner receive a nasty blow on the shoulder, delivered by a member of the opposing side. They had to turn away when they saw more ganging up on their beloved mate, bound to tear them to shreds. They ran away as fast as their legs could carry them, trying to forget the painful screams of the one they held dear.

the shadows of the forest held the sylesti closely. allthe sylesti could ask were questions. good or bad. sunny and stormy. home or lost. life or death. that was all the sylesti could think of hoping home would find them in the darkness of the woods

The small Sylesti curled tightly into a ball as the sun began to sink, the shadows engulfed it and it slowly began to change into a horrifying monster, that seemed to reek of death. meanwhile inside the sylesti screamed out for the morning light to come back.

The hatchling perched sweetly on his owner's shoulder, a devious plan welling in his mind. It wouldn't be long before he served justice for all the helpless sylestis that his human had captured and locked up in tiny, cramped cages for breeding.

The hatchling finishes removes the bits of egg shell from it's body, leaving it's egg behind in the tall grass in which it was abandoned. Taking small, careful steps on shaky newborn legs, the hatchling ventures off into the forest in search of food.
