"Kody, slow down. Nothing is wrong with me other than I'm stuck in this stupid robin form. Although I do suggest you try to change form... just so we can know." I wait for Kody to do something.

He changed to human form but after that he couldn't seem to change back.

"No! I can't be stuck in my human form! I should have tried a different one..." he began to panic. He slid down the trunk of a tree and put his head between his knees repeating over and over 'No... It can't be... I can't be stuck like this... Why this form...' until his voice began to crack and he fell silent once more.

I stare at Kody awkwardly. "Ahem, which is better, a human form no one else has seen, or a ROBIN FORM ANYONE ELSE CAN EAT?!!"

I land on the ground in front of Kody, suddenly feeling bad for him. "Look, I'm sorry. I get that you're not comfortable in that form. If you want, you can stay in my cave all day. Nobody ever goes in there because they know there's no chance of me letting them in."

"Robin form... I'd rather die..." he had the most serious look on his face. He looked even more serious than usual, "Human form might be better to you, but... you don't know what my human life was like." he stood back up and held out his hand for you to land.

I hopped up onto his hand. "But you don't know what it's like to be me. Have you ever wondered why I shove everyone out of my life? It's because... well..." I pause, gaining the courage to continue. "It's because I was taken by scientists once. I had a really close friend that I showed my changing of form to, but she betrayed me. She was one of them. So I decided I would never trust nor love nor interact with any other being more than necessary again. Yet here we are, I'm talking to you, you're talking to me, and we're both in our own kind of distress."

"My parents were the scientists..." that's all he said before he looked down to the floor and did his usual silent, bored, depresyness thing.

I pause again, not knowing how to respond. Finally, I reply, "I can't say I understand, or that it's alright, or anything like that. Because then I'd be lying. And, even though somehow I have no problem lying to everyone else, I just can't lie to you. I don't understand it, but you're the first person I've trusted since the betrayal. Plus, I say that your parents don't define you. You define you, and I define me. Genealogy or history don't matter to me. It's the present that matters, the ones right in front of me. It used to be that I saw everyone as a possible enemy, but ever since yesterday, when we actually started talking, you've changed me. Now my only goal is to change your view of yourself. I don't care about your parents, Kody. I care about you, and only you." I finish and leave a bit of silence between us. -Edit, misspelled genealogy.

His eyes widen and he stares at you shocked.

"Your the first person who made me laugh and the first person I actually enjoyed talking to. I trusted you so easily and I don't understand why but I showed you my human form and everything and I don't do that for anyone. I trust you and that's all that matters. We can get through this." he replied, "And holy crud that the most I've said in years!!!" like usual after talking Kody went silent again.

I don't even try to hide a genuine smile. Even in robin form it's obvious that I'm smiling. "So, what now? Should we..." I suddenly stop and soar up high into the air, then call down, "I have some weird robin instinct that someone is coming! If you really don't want anyone else to see your human form, I suggest hiding!"

Before you could even finish the sentence he grabbed hold of a low hanging branch and flung himself up to the next climbing at an impossible speed.

And the only proof that he climbed the tree was a single leaf that fell and landed on the ground below.
