Ok, click on the dye, and at the bottom of the inventory you'll see a little envelope button. Click that, and then type in my username. If you've got more than one dye and you just want to send one, press shift, click the dye, and then click into an empty slot (while holding down Shift). Then you can split off as many items as you'd like.
