You stab through at one point you stab through and release his hand, he immediately starts to swing his knife at the vines, probably another minute before he breaks out of them by himself, another 4 and the vines will decay.

you stab him and as your hand goes to stab a second time his knife catches your forarm drawing blood but you still stab and he dies quickly.

She sucked her arm to remove a bit of the blood and then let the vines die and she put her spear away. She then investigated the knife and anything else he may have had on him.
