"I kind of like the plateau... not to mention, if we do build on the plateau there would be some advantages. I like the height, I like the view of the sun above everything else." Atropos nosed around. "Having a clear vantage point is important in my opinion."
Aris nodded. "I agree, our place is pretty cozy and has its upsides. But I wouldn't mind having the plateau as a second home if there's an old city with fertile farmland and usable tools or structures in place already." She chuckled. "Cities and towns are often built for good reason. Like being close to certain resources, or being noticeably safer and in closer reach to other areas. Our plateau can be one of many hot spots in our overall civilization, if we end up having multiple spots everywhere."
She paused in her tracks to stretch her paws, then continued. "There might be a time where setting up camp or settlements deeper into the island would be beneficial for us too. I feel like I've been walking all day!"

(Personally, I'd vouch for plateau)
"Don't you think the soil would have grown old if we go to somewhere with old farmland? The soil wouldn't be fertile anymore, and because it had been used to grow crops over and over again, it's no longer natural soil. That type of soil, you leave it for some time, and it grows old and hard, and you can't really farm on it again." Atropos looked around. "Sure, we could have small campsites around if we get tired, but I still think that we should use the plateau. If we build there, anybody can look up and go there, right? If there are others, they'll come. An ethereal being like me rather likes to be close to the sky, if you don't mind. Being grounded makes me a bit fidgety."

((I would too if we could craft already LOL, though I'm more of a mind for a tiny base of operations on the cliff for only a handful of creatures rather than a big village))
"Huh, guess you're right. But maybe once we find the spirit of crops, we can ask them to bless the land and make it fertile again. In case gathering dirt on the rocky plateau takes too much work before we find the spirit."
She looked to the ryori and arched a brow. "It still astounds me that you want to build a civilization on the plateau that can be seen from miles away. How you have the skills and strength without possible spiritual intervention is beyond me," she chuckled. "Heck, I was surprised when you made the basket!"

Atropos looked sad. "I mean, we don't have to build a huge civilization. I was thinking a small cave or something we could settle in. We don't have to really build something, seeing the cliff face has a lot of great caves and caverns. All we need to do is build small ladders, and anyone can do that."

"Hmm...so we'd all be a cave-dwelling society." She looked up at the sky, giggling. "I kid. I really like that idea. I don't have a lot of vision for us, since I didn't think there'd be other creatures than us on the island. But I really like that you have a lot of imagination for the future while we're here. Thinking for the long-term and whatnot."
She rubbed the top of her head with a tendril, thinking about the future, then the past. "It's good to prepare for settling down...but I can't help but wonder what life for me was like before I woke up on the island. And what if end up leaving? What if we had an old life before this?"

((second part is mainly musing for a backstory))
Atropos shrugged. "As far as I can see, were out here in the middle of nowhere. If we leave, then we leave. If we have a cave dwelling society, it would make things easier if we were to leave, and everything would be fine if we didn't leave." Her voice turned softer. "You wonder of your past, yes? I wish I could. But the past for me is gone. Looking back will do nothing for us. This is why, I look at the present, at the future. The future gives us hope, am I right? I think that if we're stranded out here, knowing our pasts may be a burden to us."
(Cool! If like to know her backstory, even though Atropos is more like a 'the past is the past, what is gone is gone. We can't change the past, but we can change now to change the future.' character)

((At first, Aris was pretty unplanned, like just a realistically aware survivor, blending with the narrative that most puffadores are domestic creatures, so she's not thinking she'd be recreating a life on the island permanently. Then I was wondering if I could transition her to being more islander and survivor-like, like have her take Tribal Runes (since they look pretty aha) and take up more primal roles the longer she stays on the island. Buuuuut we'll see LOL
edit: wonder if I can possibly change one of the mutations in the future to go from the butterfly scarf to fancy trappings! it'd be like a transition from docile puff to a more tribal puff aha))
"Yea, you're right, the past's the past, and we gotta focus on the now if we want to help out the spirits like Lilliana." Aris looked back at Atropos and offered a smile of sympathy and belief in her hopes. "You sound like quite the leader. Only been a couple of days since I woke up on this island and it seems like you got a grand scheme for running this place." She chuckled, going back to looking on ahead. "I do wonder what's in store in the future. Twelve spirits is a pretty big order, anyhow."
