thank you! my question is, are there any things considered like 'dailies' on sylestia similar to other pet sites, or is it just more of a pet RPG where you fight and do combat whenever you want and dont really have things you check in on every day?

When you reach the Umbra Forest (that's the green forest next to the Viridian Meadows), you unlock the daily tasks you do, to get gold and reputation for this Forest. If you want to regulary to that, these are tasks, you can do every day.
There are also the missions, pets can go on (they are already unlocked in the Viridian Meadows), where you get gold, (I think) reputation and other stuff. It depends on what kind of missions your pets are and so they can take also up to 12 hours (whenever the mission takes longer, the reward is also better). These don't have to be checked everyday, unless you send pets to 1 hour mission, then you could do these mission many times a day.
If you want to battle, you can do that actually all the time and whenever you want!

To your question with the themed pet, it's an event pet, that is "special" and has a tag on it. You differentiate two kinds of themed pets: The tagged (violet text and yellow star) and the Purebred (blue text and star) pets. There are also the Pre-tagged pets, that means, that they are themed pets, but weren't marked as such, because they were released before the tagging-system was "invented".
