Color 3 controls the scale color; the mutation slot doesn't do anything to the scales' color, just shape.
Actually it's Color 2 that controls the colors

Okay. By far my favorite thing... Is the Fire Mane and Spring Flowers combo. THANK YOU for doing something so fantastic like that. I previously really hated Fire Mane (now it's one of my favorite traits.) But then I happened upon the Spring Flowers and omigosh!
Look guys!
The flowers are on fire!!

I gotta admit...I thought one of my absolve favorite pets, Florian, would get butchered with this update~ how foolish I was to think that. TwT
He looks beautiful~ Thank you art team and admins for the wonderful update to the Qitari~!

It will probably take me time to get use to the new look. I am bad with change. Took me a bit to get use to the Vulnyx and Lupora when they were done. SO I am sure the same will happen. Unlike others, I don't mind the wings, I think they look lovely esp the demon wings. And looking more at them, they are growing on me fast, the only thing I am hesitant on is the size of the scales on the their body but still a nice design. I am sure I will grow to like them more.

I do understand, but I also disagree. I also am offended by your "Most people do it like this..." argument... That doesn't mean it's right. Frankly, that makes it lazy which - as an artist - you should know is inherently wrong. You wouldn't need to shrink the wings... Just repossession them. Or expand the box to fill empty space which is more than readily available. There are a dozen ways to do this better... but I digress; it's not my site; so it's not really my problem. But it's just, simply and amazingly, wrong.
Do forgive me if I sound uppity, or rude. That's not my intention; especially towards staff members. I'm just very passionate~. I love the site, and I thank you for the time and effort you put into it. My solution to this will be to just not use wings on Qitari in the future...

In regards to the wing mutations, there are very few options. One thing I cannot stress enough is the canvas restrictions - which have to be in place in order to make the rest of the Site 'work' as intended. We can't have a huge canvas or a non-square canvas. It would make having pets appear on places like stable boxes, battles, etc. 100% impossible.
So, given the square canvas (most animals are more rectangular), it makes it very difficult to portray perfect anatomy right from the start.
Then, toss in the fact that once you have a pet like the male Qitari and then you want wings on him, well you only get about 1/3 of the canvas to work with unless we're going to make his actual body super small lol. I mean real anatomically correct wings would take him up like 2/3 of a rectangular box if done properly. Obviously, that's not going to happen. So... point is, we have to do the best we can. You can't expect perfect anatomy with our pets given the circumstances.
That being said, we will look at wing adjustments and will also be adding scales to the wing connections to help better blend them into the body.

We may have to agree to disagree; when I was discussing the standard method of drawing quadrupeds utilizing the shoulderblades as general launching points for wings, I personally think it looks good as well as being the general baseline in ye olde fantasy critter art.
(And I draw them that way a lot, hehe. I've always felt that these look good and functional, as fantasy goes, whereas emerging from the spine or rump has always seemed odd to me.)
Lol.
As for repositioning, in some cases, it's simply not possible (like the demon wings, which are bumping the edges already). And enlarging the box would cause a myriad of issues with the formatting (ie, in the stables, etc). Even though I would like huge spaces, haha. :)
Examples of the "edge bumping":
