They are tropical coral dwelling sea slugs that are FAR cuter then something with the word slug in its name has any right to be. And there are so many variations that genetic mutations would be easy to figure out. And the colors!! They are so bright because they are poisonous.
A photobook of them curtsey of National Geographic, chillin and being cute. They are also only like 2 cm to 6cm long.
Hmm...could be interesting. Lol

Ironically that's the background image I have on my cellphone at the moment. I couldn't say no to that face.

Hmm, I like the idea of plant monsters. In fact any of the suggestions could be combined with plants.
Building off that idea, how about a red panda with maple leaf (or other interesting shape leaf) wings and perhaps leaf ears. Mutations could include different leaf wings or maybe vine or flower based items.
My original idea included the Asian short clawed river otter with either butterfly wings or dragonfly wings and antennae of some sort. Mutations could include different wing shapes and perhaps fuzzy moth antennae. Genes could be fun on butterfly wings, add all sorts of different patterns. (or just a river otter, love em!)
Edited with a few more ideas:
- Crested gecko
- Cobra/snake - I know there's a snake/chinese dragon on the list, but I'm talking about just a snake, not a dragon in this case.
- Hydra - or something that can get multiple heads with a mutation gene active
- Cerberus type critter
- Clydesdale with a long mane and tail. We have the slender Qitari that appears to be based on a Qilin it would be fun to have another equine that's more stocky. Maybe nightmare based to make it more fantasy oriented.
- Emu based pet, large flightless bird, perhaps with a nice feathered crest and and fluffier than the real thing.

tbh, I could easily make a pabu out of a zolnixi and the stripes option, but ferrets are cool. /o/ (that's what Pabu basically is!)
Anyways, I'm all ears for any canine addition to the species list. I look forward to anything Sylestia has to offer. c:
