In the middle of the night spreads a whisper of fright.
For a chill wind in the air stifles a quiet prayer.
The lights are dim, and the candles flicker.
Darkness comes now, stretching thicker.
The hunt has started, it has begun.
When you are out alone, prepare to run.
Do not look back, do not answer the call.
For It is coming, and will devour you all.
It is sly, and sharp; quick as a fox!
Announcing Its coming with a series of knocks.
Hide best you can, but you know what you hear.
You know what it is: something awful to fear.
The knocks are deep, solid and sound.
Even puppy Percy trembles on the ground.
Nothing is safe, not even you.
Not long now til It breaks through.
A pounding so strong that the ground shook.
This is the revised story of the BABADOOK!

Abestia is a traveling pan pipe player. She is the spirit of autumn. She can talk to the plants, and they tell her stories from long ago. Abestia and her friends spread the stories they hear through songs. However they can only play on the eve of the changing season. Abestia must travel so she is always in a place where fall is. It is the same with her friends (the spirits of Winter, Summer, and Spring), so they can only meet on the equinoxes. In between the equinoxes, she travels from forest to forest, playing her pan pipes, and making friends with the plants and animals.

My entry is based on the Yuki-onna, or Snow Woman, from Japanese legends. The Yuki-onna is said to be the spirit of someone that perished in the snow. She is described as being a beautiful woman with long black hair, lips blue from the cold, and pale, almost transparent, skin. In many stories, she is described as wearing a white kimono. She floats across the snow while leaving no footprints nor trace that she had passed. It is said that she can transform herself into a cloud of mist or snow if threatened. The Yuki-onna has been known to kill unsuspecting humans that cross her path by trapping them in a snowstorm and then using her icy breath to coat their body in ice. Some legends claim that she appears to be holding a child and if a human tries to take the child from her, she will freeze them in place. Although not all the legends portray Yuki-onna as evil, she does have a dangerous beauty and is best left alone.

She is loosely based on one of my characters from D&D. Her name is Ryadha. She is a rouge that goes adventuring with a fighter she has become friends with. The loot she keeps tends to be things like gems, nice looking weapons and armor. She first meet her fighter friend while in an abandoned tower looking for loot. He had nearly set off a trap that she was in the process of disabling. She convinced herself to continue adventuring with him by saying that she was just keeping him alive to get more loot. Eventually they became good friends and found more loot and gems together than they had alone.

The Stargazer
"Aim for the moon, if you fail you will still be among the stars."
"Be careful what you wish for."
"Desire is a powerful thing, you must overcome it."
Long ago, a young boy of 7 years lived by the phrases his grandmother taught him. He dreamed of touching stardust and holding the constellations in the palm of his hand. For as long as he could remember, he and his grandmother would gaze upon the stars every night, always leaving him in awe. His grandmother had stopped when he was 6 years old, telling him that it was dangerous to fall to obsession, but the boy did not heed his grandmother's warning. He continued watching the sky every night, for as long as he could. Soon he began losing sleep, then reason, then thought, when finally he had stared too long. On his 7th birthday, just as dawn had started to break and the stars were fading, it is said that the constellations fell from heaven and sweeped him up with them.
~~~
Now, he has forgotten all worldly things. There is no such thing as a name, no love, no feeling, no difference between right and wrong. For him there is only the winds of space and the lives of stars, but he is plagued with emptiness and a feeling of being lost. On earth, people often see him in the form of a flickering light in the night sky, lighting the way for his lost self. Legend has it that if a child gazes at the stars with such longing as his, they will find him gazing back, the same longing mirrored in his eyes.
The Dragon Queen and Their Companion
Dravine and Obsidian
Black smoke billows from a crack in the side of the mountain. As you lean in towards the opening to get a better look you accidentally kick a stone and it skitters across the blackened marble floor of the cavern. It's silent for a moment but then a rumbling hiss echoes through the space and the slick sounds of scales across hard stone reach your ears. You stumble backwards as the sounds grow closer and finally a sleek and elegant creature emerges. Their blood red eyes observe you with cold indifference.
"It is very rude to disturb someone's sleep"
They grin at you, showing off gleaming fangs.
"You'll have to pay for your indiscretion."
Mine is a fallen Demon that escaped from hell.
He now dwells on earth, in a cave, fearing that if he ever goes out he will be seen. He has his enjoyments though, and it is always the high point of his day when a traveler wonders in. Hmm.. How he enjoys sipping their blood and hearing their screams.
Okay! Here we go. Mine is based purely of my brothers. I watched him design his and had the most perfect idea. And I'm so glad my post is right after his, it makes it better. My designed avatar is an angel. An angel in heaven, drinking from the fountain of life, as she watched the Demons below, drinking the blood of innocents. Why does she tolerate this? Because soon she know, the Demon will be caught. and then he will drink from the fountain of life, and either he will join their ranks or it will taste bitter to him, and he will choke and die.
(I got his permission before posting this so it's okay with him)
Cold had long since seeped into her skin, the icy chill sapping the heat and moisture from her lips. The blustering wind was abrasive against her cheeks. Light from the late winter sun had started its final colourful declaration, bright orange against red tinged clouds. Meg knew that sky promised winter wasn't quite ready to relinquish her hold, and pulled her cloak more tightly against her body and continued onward. A shepherd knew no rest while a lamb wandered lost.
This is loosely based off a charecter from one of my favorite video games: The Princess Nina from Breath of Fire 2.
Princess Nina
Born a princess to the Kingdom of Wind, a kingdom of whom all citizens have wings.
But she was born with black wings. A prophecy of doom had long ago been given, concering any member of the royal family who was born with black wings. The prophecy stated that the one born with black wings would bring disaster and misfortune. It was a prophecy of doom.
It was made the law of the country that anyone in the kingdom who was born with black wings must be killed in order to prevent this disaster.
But, the king and queen could not bear to kill their eldest daughter, so instead they banished her, under pain of death, if she ever returned, to protect her from those who believed the prophecy. They told everyone in the kingdom that their elder daughter had died, then sent her to a distant village.
Now an adolecent, Nina has become a powerful spellcaster, having been taught Magic at a school that specialized in such teaching, and she has become a master of elemental attack magic. But despite her parents seeming coldness, Nina loved them dearly. She continued to think about the good of her motherland, and continually tried to disappear.
