These are freaking AWESOME! The male is indeed sort of wolf-like, but I love it :)

Oh wow, They look like strong warriors in battle and harsh but fair Queens. I love it!

These look like they are going to be amazing with the shading and traits added in. I love the poses and the fierceness of them, but the male seems to be missing some bulk in the rump area considering how bulky his front is and to me it just throws him off a bit. Other than that, love the way that both the male and female almost look like they are moving and cannot wait to see the finished product!

Here are my feelings overall:

1. I feel like the females and males of this species don't really match still (I have the same feelings about the current Morkko Design as well). Perhaps the idea is to make the female 'prettier' and the male 'ferocious'? I still wish they matched better (i.e. the male looked more like the female, only slightly larger with maybe more fur around his face, etc.).

2. I dislike the permanent accessories. I like it when I have the choice to make pets to look 'wild' i.e. no armor/adornments. None of the other pets come with forced adornments, and I don't think the Morkko should be the exception. I don't even mind the beads/feathers part of it so much, I just really dislike that giant bracelet thingy.

3. I feel like the female Morkko is a touch too skinny, especially with those thick solid legs? Maybe she needs a little more fluff on her belly or something? She is a bear after all, I think it is appropriate for her to be a little heftier.

4. Male baby Morkko looks slightly awkward, perhaps because of the pose. But I love his tummy!

5. I LOVE that they actually look furry/fuzzy now!

6. Female baby Morkko is perfect, except she needs another feather on the right side to even them out around her face. <3

The artist should be proud of their work, the above is simply meant to be constructive criticism to improve upon the already lovely concept art.

My initial reaction to these is to be quite pleased, I think this is a very large improvement over the current design. I love the way the morkko now looks actually like a fierce creature and also has a much more defined form. I do have some critiques, though.

I feel like both the male and the female lack a true "bear" shape. Bears have more of a sloping line with their chests higher up than their stomachs, and a fairly round behind. The way they stand now might make them look more...Threatening? But I also feel like it makes them look less like bears. Another thing that I feel takes away from the bear feel is the male's face. The canines and the general positioning of the face makes the male look more wolfish than ursine. I think if the male's face was made a little more rounded and the size of the teeth reduced, it would make a lot of difference. (I also think the female could use a little bit of dentistry, but not as much as her male companion.) My final comment is about the claws. Bears definitely have big claws, and I know these aren't real bears, but...These claws are just so, so large that they feel overkill to me. I think the same general claw structure but shorter and thinner would look nice.

Those are all the comments I have for now, and I would like to restate that I'm quite pleased with the way these bears look, I just think they'd look better if they were a little more bear-ish. :)
