Awesome! I like the fact that they have more facial expressions. The don't look as big like but it gives them a more fairy aspect that is really pretty. I love the addition of more varied traits for them. Gives them a lot of better design options. So far great job. I look forward to seeing how they continue to develop.

Hmmm, I have to agree with some other posters, that artistically, the current design (no revamp) is better than this one!
Cons of revamp:
Too human/anthro. It does look a bit "Disney" and doesn't match the rest of the pets on the site.
The mouth and nose in particular are too human.
The wings are smaller with less area for wing designs (but maybe they will be approached differently in the revamp). Anyway, the old wings are more striking for generic at the moment.
The longer arms look a bit strange, again too human I think.
Pros of revamp:
More emotion is a great direction. But instead of more anthro, distinguishing the lunes from each other and in different ways might work.
The hair (or another element) might work for the female, but I think softer, rounder lines for the female and more angular lines for the male would make a huge difference. There was a bit of that with the old design, but making it more pronounced might show more emotion and a difference between the two.
One user, Scathreoite drew some lune sketches. Edit: and here.
While there is no need to mimic their thoughts, Scath did a wonderful job of showing emotion without "humanising" them. The legs look great (better than 6 arms), and emotion is shown with head angle, pose, etc.
New traits and mutations! With these, the lunes can become stunning! The two winged pets, the kelpari and the aurleon, had amazing revamps since the wings allowed for incredible colors. The lunes also have wings, which makes their potential very high!
Also, the new design has more body space, which can be used to make the genes more striking!
To sum up: I think emotion from angle/pose, a host of new mutations and traits, and kelp-aur level of color combos would make the lune revamp top-notch! (and not so much anthro-humanising!)

First I love the new art for them. I LOVE butterflies and moths very much and now with their new look I know for sure that there are new traits that I'd also LOVE for them to get.
I'd love to design some traits, but there are simply too many traits that I'd love for them to get that I wouldn't be able to only submit one mutation and one gene.
Maybe I can figure out if any of the traits fit in a set and submit it that way?
Anyhow, I'm much more excited about this revamp that I though I was going to be, so for sure awesome work.

So far I think they are pretty good, but I think that the male's arms could be doing something else other than just hanging limp there. And, they look too human compared to other pets on the site.
Also, the lobed upper wing disturbs me...
Hope they have A LOT more traits now :)
edit: took a bit of a closer look, I really really like the little floofy babies, but the female adult looks like she just got punched in the stomach or something.
edit on the edit: I like the fluffs around their face and the little mane on their neck (do insects have necks?) but i kinda like the art from before...

I do love the more humanoid look to these lums but I do have a couple suggestions.
The females body does look weird. Maybe just have the back stick out more or even dialling back that line on her front, just so we can tell what's an arm and what's a thorax without an in-depth look.
Can we change the arms a bit? They are a little too...plain(?) for the lums. Maybe some fluff on the forearms.
(Those bottom things are meant to be the fingers but...you know not the best artist!)
Other than that, I love them! The nose is a little different and it might take me some time to get used to it but I don't really think anything is wrong with it. I sort of like it even. It gives the lum a bit of a fairy look to them which so neat.
Nice work guys! :D

Eh.. I'm not going to lie, I'll be honest, I really like the old ones better. They were so clean and simple, and.. well, I personally prefer the old Lunemaras..
Several people have already expressed opinions that are like mine.
"please make them more buglike"; "I do not feel anthro really can fit into the Sylestia artwork style after seeing this...It is just incredibly jarringly different"; "look really cartoonish...not matching how the other species look"; "I would perfer them (faces) to be more like bugs"; "The only problem is that it looks less like a bug and a sylesti and more like a cartoon/disney character so maybe make it more bug like and less cartoony"; "They're too humanoid for my liking. I'd prefer if they retained more of their insect features"; "make them more bug-like and less humanoid looking?"
"I also kind of feel like the faces could simply end with a cute little point instead of having a proper nose and mouth." I totally, completely concur with this!
"The "hands" are a bit much. Since they are supposed to be legs, making them all look like arms just looks... off. Perhaps the top set of limbs could be arms and the bottom two could be legs."
"...the female's body looks a little... broken in the middle? Maybe little bit less sharp an angle between the abdomen and the thorax?"
"Thank you so much for keeping the cuddly larva design"; "The hatchlings are super cute though! Although, maybe open eyes on the female"
"maybe the wings could be a little bit bigger like they are now";
You get the idea; I don't have to quote everyone. Oh, I would also like to see round insect eyes--to me, that was always one of the best Lunemara features.
In short, my (hopefully constructive) suggestion is "Less of A Bug's Life/Antz and more of Mothra."
Please note that I don't want anyone, especially the artists, to feel unappreciated due to my comments. Quite the contrary!
Also, here is a non-artist's attempt at drawing a possible version of the male Lune's face. Hopefully it still looks like a bug but is more personable than the current version.
Edit: OK, I am not too bright. I just now realized the curly noses are supposed to reminiscent of a butterfly's rolled-up tube mouth!
Well, why shouldn't a Lunemara have a butterfly-style mouth? They aren't moths, after all; they are Lunemaras. So non-artist me did this--
Perhaps an artistic person could modify the mouth so it appears at the proper angle to the rest of the head and also suggests a smile?
I really like SpaceElf1's suggestions!!
I would like bigger eyes, these are too small, not enough moth/bug like. And bigger wings- those new ones removed the butterfly-ish feel of the old design.
Like the others, I'm not a big fan of the humanoid look, and they look too much like wasps now. They're too elongated to my taste, and their heads look smaller in proportion to their bodies. And no hands.
That said, I'm quite excited about traits to come! Keep up the good work!

I think they are adorable! They are very stephen cosgrove - esqe/Seuss-y. One of my favorites stories as a child was the dream tree by stephen cosgrove and I immediately thought of that when I saw them <3
I am not artist, so I have no critique. I'm sure there is still some polishing to do based on all the negative feedback, but for me thus far I think they are very cute and I'm excited about the possibilities for traits and genes. I feel like with this design it opens up a whole new world for lunes. As it stands now, most lune genes are all but invisible. So any change at this point is a vast improvement in my book. Can't wait to see the update for the official and final design.
P.S. Pleassse take extra special care when updating my beloved branch wings *nervously chews hands off*

1. When will these be coming out?
2. Will we be able to regenerate all of our old Lunemaras?
The babies are SO CUTE. They look so cuddly lol
