I like that they pretty much look the same, but I do have some criticism fairly similar to what has already been said.

I think the males tail looks odd. I'm assuming it's puffy cause there will be feather details there. But I also think the placement of the tail in the back isn't the best either. I suppose in this new form their tails are longer, but traits wont be able to be seen on the tail. I think his tail position now is better.
Edit: I figured the tail in the back had to do something with layering and whatnot, it just.....I just hope it looks good.

Also, do they have beards now or is that just fluff?

I also agree with some people that the males back legs look a bit weak. I guess they use to be covered in more fur.

I like the way the males back is exposed so you can see the pattern behind the wings. The female pose is a little different.

I think they are coming along well

Their faces seem a bit flat. Not their expression of course, but the way their face's sit on the body seems a bit wonky to me. I love the females wings, but I think the males could be a bit fuller? or rounder. I think his back fur [feathers? fluff?] should look a little less round and more scraggly.

The females tail could blend in more, it looks a bit draconic as is. The babies are sooo cute! But the female is just a little too round? Very circular. I love the fluffiness though!Also I think the female should have a more sultry, sexy look. I love how in the current design she seems to kind of side eye you.
But in the new sketch she looks very baby doll like and cute. There is nothing wrong with this, I just like to see sylesti take on a certain personality depending on species. A good example is how the Luporas look very sophisticated and regal. Overall the idea of the Nytes looking more primal appeals to me very much, especially if the babies are just fluff balls!

The idea of a buff, rough looking male also appeals to me. I saw in the latest update where the back feet have been thickened that the spurs were lost, I think they should defiantly make a comeback.

Hope I haven't been too picky, I'm glad this species is the next to get re-vamped. <3

Edit: After reading quite a few more comments, I would also like to point out these uncomfortable traits:

1.The babies feet are definitely too small, i personally think a floof ball with big unweildy feet sounds just as cute as one with teeter-totters. Also, with large bird chicks irl it seems like their feet are almost full size when they hatch.

2. The adult male does look abit like a disgruntled grandfather...

3.The beards are interesting, but I think that sort detail could go elsewhere on the body.

4. The wings aren't feathery enough, even in birds such as chickens which have a smooth wing, you can still see the outlined individual feathers covering the wings.

5. The adults have too much "fur". If that was a real bird it would die of common cold. Birds can't have that downy on their backs. It would get soaked in rain and then they'd be a cold, wet bird (which I also don't imagine would help them fly). That would also probably off the chicks too, but thats forgivable since most bird chicks are covered in downy the day they hatch.

6. Maybe you could shift the tail just a bit or curl it maybe so its not clashing with the head feathers too much.


Just my opinion as as a one man peanut gallery.

They look so much better and the genders are much easier to identify! And their faces being a lot bigger makes it easier to see their emotions too! And I love the wings, the wings are the best!

A couple of thoughts- I hope the tail designs will be noticeable. All of them and not just a tiny portion with the finished product. I worry that not enough off the tail and/or the traits to go with it would be seen.
Unless thats the tail I am seeing behind his head? I thought it might have been a head attachment? Not 100% sure what I am seeing there...All I initially saw was the small amount of tail near his feet.

Second thought, the male's arm. seems a little..out of sorts a bit, maybe that's just due to the sketch itself, or its on the thin side, I don't know how to explain that well. I hope that too evens out eventually.

The female hatchling...is really cute, but if even a little neck on her would help things, that might make it a little weirder. Maybe smaller head perhaps, a little less...fluff. Or even a slight head turn counter-clockwise? But Id be fine if kept as is...She is still very cute.

Otherwise, all in all, very very cute revamp for these!

Oh my goodness. they are adorable. They look more like owls now. I love it! They are amazing! Squeees of happiness.

Maybe I'm just being picky, but it looks like the Male only has two claws on his front feet, instead of three like his back legs.
