Piper skipped down the hall towards Sylver and Erin. "I'm better! The nurse lady let me out after a few more tests, and I guess I'm fine now."

"Alright, alright..." Sure, Rhys can do it, but can I? Not able to meet his gaze, I glanced down at my hands, which were still trembling quite noticeably. I don't have the self-discipline or the mental strength, and... they're good because they've trained, whereas I've come in here with basically no prior magical knowledge. My fingers curled a little, threatening to become a fist. I didn't expect it to be easy, but this... when I'm so far behind everyone else, and when everybody is already fairly confident with their powers. I sighed, and the muscles in my hand relaxed.

"I'll just... try, and see what happens." I spoke my thought aloud, my voice wavering a little. Shoving aside the mountain of doubts that were stacking up against me was not easy, and the occasional one slipped through my mental barriers. What if I'm not good enough? What if I don't improve? Will they send me back?

"- .... .- - .../ --. .-. . .- -!" Sylver clicked happily, putting her book down.

[That's great!]

"Right, I'm going to sleep now, g'night" Rhys said, curling up under the covers and going to sleep.

"Alright..."

I decided to get changed in the bathroom. I took a moment to splash cold water on my face afterwards, hoping that it would help me to calm down, but to no avail. I leant my elbows on the side, clutching my head between my hands and closing my eyes, feeling a burning sensation rise in my chest.

Calm down, and get a grip! Something furry brushed past my arm, and I jumped away in surprise. Gervasius was staring sternly at me, attempting to fold his stubby arms. How he had gotten in, I was not sure. Whining about how you can't change anything never got anyone anywhere! He jumped forwards, landing on my chest and clinging on to the front of my pyjamas. He struggled for a moment, before eventually finding his way up and onto my shoulder. Take a good look at yourself Rick. You might be weak, but anything can be improved, you just need to put in the effort! My eyes met his. Don't let me down! Now pull yourself together, you can't be in a state when you present your abilities!

"You're right... I'm tired, I just need to rest." I gave Gervasius a weak smile. "Maybe then I'll be ready to take on the challenge." I unlocked the bathroom door, then immediately headed to my bed. As I wrapped myself in the duvet, I felt sleep creep into my body, claiming me within seconds.

I can... do this.

Rhys woke up in the middle of the night, his sisters texting him good luck and how proud they were of him. He just turned his phone off for the night, falling back asleep.

Piper curled up in bed, surprised when Coral sat next to her.

"Oh, hey Coral!"

Coral offered a bright smile. "I heard you were sick! You and Kazar, of course. And your other friend."

"Rick."

"Right, him," Coral's smile disappeared. "So, I'm guessing you're better now, and I was wondering if I could maybe join your group of friends? Mine act like jerks now..." She blinked, looking away. "And, I hear your Adimen friend is hanging out with those Lurr twins now."

Piper knew Laurel had been gone for the last few days, but nothing about her roommates- she had known Laurel was avoiding her though. "Yeah, sure."

"Thanks!" Coral turned to Sylver. "Are you okay with that? I know Kazar already, by the way."

Sylver nodded. "-.-- . .../ ../ .... .- ...- ./ -. ---/ .. ... ... ..- ./ .-- .. - ..../ .. -" Sylver told her, petting her Ryori, Ambrosia, who was curled up on her lap.
