She has blessed the Empress with her grace and only a heathen would dare try to go against the Goddess' will. The Church would be wise to remember this." He gave a smile back to Gallagher before excusing himself and returning to the courtyard to finish his meditation.

He turned, watching him depart. Then he walked the opposite direction, returning to the palace.

"Take it you made a friend or you just get bored and start finding new ways to entertain yourself?" Lowell chuckled a bit, adjusting his glasses as he stepped back from the window in the front hall. He had a cup of black tea next to him.
"I saw that man half-scared to death and running out of here just a bit ago. Didn't realize it was in our job description to start shaking down the clergymen now.. Not that I mind much, but I doubt they have any information we can make use of."

" I do not trust the church, nor anyone associated with the church. They have tried one too many times to remove me from The Empress' side. " he said to him.

Is it because of your magic? Because if that is the case, I assume it's only a matter of time until I, myself, am one of their targets. My own house has a bounty on me after all."

They will start with warning the Empress, and when she does not heed their warnings, they will take matters into their own hands. Its only a matter of time before the high priest visits. Hes not exactly my biggest fan, either. "

He took a sip of his coffee, mulling over the bitterness in his mouth with a bit of disgust on his face.

" I didn't do much. At the Empress's coronation, he was unfortunate enough to witness me take out some unruly assassins in quite a gruesome and unholy way. "

"An assassination attempt even at a coronation?" He shook his head.
"You'd think the Empress would have some sort of contingency in place at this rate.. Not to discredit your skill, but these assassination attempts have been more or less entirely relentless. It is more than the either of us or some simple palace guards can continue handle alone."
