The house's owner was apparently not letting you go downstairs because you couldn't find the stairs. Possibly it was because they were super annoyed with you.

Oh okay then fine idc waht they think of me. I went into the room, opened the window, made a rope using bed sheets and stuff, and went down to 1st floor w/o breaking my leg, snapping my neck, or anything like that.

There weren't that many bed sheets. Also, the window was locked.

You managed to crudely disinfect the wounds with a swab. Diana twitched and made a tiny whining sound, probably because rubbing disinfectant directly into a wound hurts a lot. She then fell limp once again. You suddenly notice something on the table that didn't seem to be there before.
You'll be safe upstairs, and so will your friend.
A small slip of paper was propped up against the glass of water.

April gulped and she looked around, holding Diana close. She stood up, legs limp. She craned her neck up, heart beating quickly and she felt shallow, with no choice but to venture up, afraid. Her feet took one step forward at a time, feeling chained down or glued to the floor.

The room was quite small, and you found the stairs with little problem, although the entire thing did seem a bit weird. It was as if the owner of the house was expecting you and your friend, but how? You were, after all, new to this world. The stairs were made of polished spruce wood, glinting in the light of the windows and fireplace.

April didn't think about that, for now. Her main priority was to get Diana to safety. She stumbled up, leaning forward over the raccoon she cradled in her arms, trying not to slip on the new polish. Her legs hurt and they were shaking violently, she didn't know how much longer she could stand between her sobs.

The stairs were not, for a fact, newly polished, but whatever. You stumble up the stairs and come to a hallway, lined with doors; five on the right, five on the left, and one at the end of the hallway. It looked like one of the rooms had been occupied, as the door was partially open and you could hear yelling from inside.

"Be patient, Micah." Verius clicked his tongue at you, and M nodded. "You're going by yourself as for now. She'll be here sooner or later, in her own pace."
"Of course, with her own group of people." M added.

Micah shrugged, Alrighty then. Seeing as I am not the best investigator, where do I start, and do you already have any leads I can follow? He asked, quickly finishing off the last of the tea and wiping any traces off his lips with the sleeve of his arm.

"There's a number of places you could go. I say, you go take a look at the crime scenes, and then go see the suspects. You're not queasy at blood, are you?" He asked. Something in his time told you there would be blood, and there would be a lot of it.

Micah shook his head, "Nope, as long as it's not some giant creepy monster made of blood and stuff attacking me or something, blood doesn't make me queasy." Apparently that would come in handy, as, from Verius's voice, he guessed that there would probably be lots of it.

"Hmm, you should be okay, then." Verius nodded. "Why don't you go check out the crime scene, then? Xan will take you." He gestured with his hand, and Xan set down the tea tray, straightening as he nodded to acknowledge Verius' order. M hummed softly, but made to move to go with you.
