Springing Forth the Love Bears



In the real world, this is the time of year when hibernating animals, including the bears that this creature is based on, are waking up and coming out of their dens...especially when you're getting an early spring like we are in eastern North Carolina this year. Often, those dens are little more than a hole in the ground and winter snow or rain can dump seed-laden soils in on top of the sleeping bear.

This can mean that when it wakes and comes out, it can be covered in green vines and sometimes those vines have flowers on them....so this is what I chose to portray. I used G3 - Lucky Runes for the green vines, M1 - Growing Grows to imitate the vine form (there is also a bush form) of Bleeding Heart Flowers in red and finally, M2 - Spring Flower in a dark pink to imitate Morning Glories. This completes all six trait points for the design.

The eyes, base coat and belly were done in the dark to medium browns of a real bear's natural coat colors to further imitate the look of a spring-woken creature emerging from hibernation covered in flowering vines. Browns look better each, with green, with red and with pink than black does, since there is better balance.

The only problem I had was image size. I can get the great big bear or the little bitty bear, but I can't seem to get the in-between-just-right-bear.

*scratches head*
