Ryeva, Protector of the Winter Pines
All throughout winter, Ryeva wanders around pine woods. She appears when the Gold Star is at its brightest, when the night is the coldest, darkest, longest. She and her faithful companion disguise themselves among the trees-they are almost impossible to see, for Ryeva wears clothing to match the very things she protects. She dusts the pines with shimmering snow, protecting them from the bitter cold. A cloud of the glimmering snow hangs behind her, always there in case she needs to help a tree. This hazy cloud is one of the signs that she is near-some have claimed to have seen a shimmering haze flicker between some pines, then mysteriously disappear. Ryeva is very secretive. She prefers to hide within a forest, only ever showing herself to those she sees as worthy guardians of the woods.She has been known to guide friendly travellers onto the right path by leaving bits of her ever-growing headpiece, and lead those harmful to nature astray. She is a kind guardian, but fiercely protective of her beloved forests.
