A way that has really skyrocketed my money recently is festivals. Whenever a festival rolls around, try to go into the area and do a few of the quests that give the currency. They often are given in large quantities, and people will pay high amounts on the broker for them. You can easily get several thousands using not too many tokens.

The Trollsblight Cavern method mentioned previously is great for the interim if you need a bit more money, but this is where the big money is.

When do pets die

They don't ever really die, they stay with you forever unless you choose to Release them.

I believe you have to reach a certain level on your account or in the story to unlock a bid of 10, and that's how high it gets.

I love Jinxie's Jamboree. You can just mindlessly click on it while watching/listening to something else, and whenever I play for any longer than 5 minutes, I end up with at least one essence and potion. Just today Ive found an essence and like 3 potions while listening to video essays on YouTube, not to mention also around 20k gold. The only thing that can kill JJ is if you get discouraged. You are going to lose before you gain gold. You are going to get stave (lantern) minigames that give you nothing. Just remember that it's specifically rigged in your favor if you stick with it, and it's one of the best semi-active gold generators in my opinion.
(Side note: the player-favor rigging is why we don't and will never have 20+ tiers. Krin meant to add those, then realized that it'd be really unfair, so he'd have to rig it in house-favor instead to avoid letting people just mine gold. It seemed better to just keep it player-favor and low-tier, and I agree :) )
