I kept forgetting to post this, aha.. I have nothing but large steak knives to carve with, so not very good but here it is.

So here is my Red Warty Thing. Yes, that is the official name of this type of heirloom pumpkin.

Krin suggested I ought to carve a witch in my Red Warty Thing when I joked about the name in gen chat.

Making 'fur'

Here it is, a 'creepy' Nixi Witch, complete with a rat familiar.

I made this a loong while back and just never got around to posting the pictures. Whoops..
Tada, pumpkin thing~

Was a biiiig pumpkin.

Carved some chunks off the side. It wasn't easy, was a verrry thick pumpkin!

Shaped the straight pieces into weird claw-looking things, with dangly pumpkin guts. Spooooky..

Bonus sideview

I mixed some of the pumpkin guts with green food coloring, and added tiny gravestone-shaped pumpkin pieces with names carved on them. Volunteer-friends that I still know from this site, and people I used to know in real life but have never heard from again.

Bonus closeup.

I'm not really sure if I'm going to get credit for this but I really wanted to take a chance and try it because it seemed like it'd be fun to do. I decided to make an entry based on this guy.

Originally, I was thinking of trying to make this with two pumpkins but then I found this squash that looked like it'd be great as a mushroom cap. The only thing I could think of to carve to make the body then was using a potato.

I started carving the potato into the basic form I was trying to make. I had to do this at my computer so I could see the picture of the myconid.

I tried putting the cap on to get an idea of proportions. I got an eye, nose, and mouth started on at this point.

I needed more potato to make legs but I did decide to attempt arms.

Here he is mostly done.

After carving a huge hole into the back of his head, I was able to fit in a battery powered tea light candle.

An up close picture of the part I actually carved.

Here's a couple more pictures of him.

Digital Entry

This year I decided to try my hand at carving, but I kept it simple with an orange. I tried to imitate the Lupora Lune design with the moon and the cloud.

I have to say.. this is one of the creepiest things I've seen. It's pretty awesome and I'll never be able to face those guys again without thinking of this.. It'll haunt me for quite a while. I mean, it was creepy and then I got to the lit-up part and.. that's just terrifying lol

Really original idea!
