It was a haha (a joke), not a hows it made request. ;) Canned pumpkin actually doesn't come from the kind of pumpkins we typically carve, but a hybrid pumpkin specifically grown for that purpose. You can make a pumpkin pie from the carvers, but you won't actually make the yummy thing from the can, since it isn't from the same type of pumpkin at all. ;)

I was just trying to let you know about this sweet potato pie recipe that I found... :) I was really excited about it and wanted to share it with someone.

It all looks so delicious ._. The ham picture made my mouth water, and I'm not really a fan of ham.

Aww, thank you! It turned out to be a sweet, but salty ham. 10/10, would do again
(I wanted to make pies, but we had no time)

Sooooo I can't really cook and I was only allowed to make one real dish for Thanksgiving >.> And I need 3 to 5 items, right? Will you accept things like sandwiches or mac and cheese? That's all I really know how to make since the majority of my diet consists of take-out, pizza delivery, fast food and spagettios >.>

driving home, it is fully dark by the time we pull into our garage at 7 pm. Everyone is a little tired, and the aliens have to literally knock on the kitchen window before we notice them. Once we do we invite them inside and tell them they are welcome to share our dinner, but we will be making a feast for noon tomorrow that they are more than welcome to eat with us.
I wake up the next day excited to get cooking. everybody does their part in the cooking, but I do make two things all by myself: the corn and pumpkin pie.
https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#label/thanksgiving/15feff2e72df4b83?projector=1
I add all the pie filling ingredients into a bowl and mix them with a whisk
https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#label/thanksgiving/15feff2e72df4b83?projector=1
setting the filling aside, I grab the pie crust I had made up earlier.
https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#label/thanksgiving/15feff601972d22b?projector=1
and pour the pie filling in
https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#label/thanksgiving/15feff7d80c3375f?projector=1
before putting it in the oven to bake. Once it's done, I take it out of the oven and set it aside to cool
https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#label/thanksgiving/15feff950b93274c?projector=1
as I get the frozen corn out to put in the microwave.
https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#label/thanksgiving/15feff9c7fc85bcf?projector=1
after it comes out of the microwave I test it to make sure it is warm enough before adding some butter and setting it aside to melt
https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#label/thanksgiving/15feffb10218127c?projector=1
a few minutes later I come back and mix it up, adding a little salt and pepper. Done!

after we finish eating lunch

my dad tells me "you know, honey, these guys seem like the kind of people that would enjoy an apple pie like the one you made to bring to Grandpa's yesterday" so I get started on another pie.
first I mix up the seasonings for the apple filling
https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#label/thanksgiving/15ff00f885531e1f?projector=1
then I thinly slice nine small granny smith apples into them and mix it up
https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#label/thanksgiving/15ff011592db3b89?projector=1
once that's done, I set it aside and start the crust for the pie
https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#label/thanksgiving/15ff012174b96a44?projector=1
once I have it rolled out, I use it to line a pie tin
https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#label/thanksgiving/15ff012174b96a44?projector=1
and add the filling
https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#label/thanksgiving/15ff0135d89e28b1?projector=1
and top it off with a lattice top
https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#label/thanksgiving/15ff0148adc6941b?projector=1
before putting it in the oven. When I take it out again, it looks delicious.

sorry for the blurryness, but my phone's camera isn't very good, and I wasn't able to borrow my mom's.
ping me if my pictures don't show up. I had to email them to my computer and wasn't sure what to do from there

I'm a broke uni student who cannot afford to travel home, so i was on my own for thanksgiving this year. I also have very limited supplies, but I still thought this would be fun! So i documented my normal meals for a day to post. (and a not so normal dessert lol)

So first off, i'm a huge fan of pancakes, and i'm sure the aliens would be too!

gathering the pancakes supplies. I always add cream cheese and a tiny bit of sugar to mine, since I like them a tiny bit more sweet than normal and honestly...i just love cream cheese :D

Mixing the batter

... ... ...
Yeah, we won't give that one to the aliens. Dont wanna start an invasion. e'll just...pretend this pancake didnt happen. K.

Much better! A pancake fit for possibly-hostile aliens and keeping the peace!

Final stack of pancakes! I....kinda like some pancake with my whipped cream, but whatever. they were delicious even if i went a bit trigger happy on the whipped cream!

(break to paint nails and wait for dinner time)

Sorry for blurry pics, these ones weren't cooperating. but here, prepping the pasta.

Fresh out of microwave (because lazy) and added some butter to he cooked pasta for flavor.

Cooking the meat for the pasta.

Final (blurry) dinner! Pasta with alfredo sauce and beef mixed in!

Time for dessert! All I had were apples and pb, and some caramel syrup lol.

Chopped the apples, with a generous dab of peanut butter in the middle.

Surrounding the peanut butter with apple slices :D

Drizzle caramel syrup on, and enjoy!

So funny story... Thursday comes around and I drive home with my kids. We get home when my fluffy pooch go's crazy in the back yard. There are a pair of the oddest green tourists you have ever seen with their hot rod looking very lost in my back yard!
Of course I go out to help em out, seams they were here looking for earthling thanksgiving. I told em they were a bit north or very late for that, they had landed in Canada and they needed to be below the 49th parallel to get some turkey. I proceeded to show them with google maps, and they tell me it all looks the same in space, they did look very sad by the news.

Well I couldn't just let them go like that, eh. I told them since it was quite far that they could stay and enjoy a more Canadian meal, I had just acquired a seasonal delicacy and though not traditional it would be memorable :)

With that I head to my kitchen as my girls entertain the visitors (hopefully they don't make them wish to nuke the planet)

My first and main dish is my Seasonal delicacy, a Jack Spring Salmon. I plan on braising it with a brown sugar and honey mustered glaze. add a little lemon zest and its delish!

Fish and ingredients (yes I butcher my own fish)

Cleaned fish on one of my BBQing trays

Glazing mix added

Fully cooked!

Second dish is simple, Blanched Green Beans with Garlic butter and salt.(these got eaten faster than the desert!)
Cleaned Beans and ingredients

Blanching!

Butter garlic and salt added (the smell now is bringing everyone into the kitchen for a look)

Third dish is a Grilled Mixed Vegetable , Peppers, Brocolli, Zuchini, and snap peas, lightly crunchy, tangy and very good companion to the fish. adds festive colour too.

Raw Veggies!

Steaming them first a bit to make them tender

and Grilling them up with a bit of butter, garlic, and sesame oil.

Finally The last dish is a Mixed Fruit Crumble, I have a few secret ingredients so not showing that part.

Fruit, Pears, Peaches, Mango and blueberries from my garden :)

Sugar and spices added

Crumble on top

And Baked!

Finally I present to you the final meal

My out of this world Visitors agreed it was both auramatic and tasty! hope I win some of you over too XD
