Well, they're forbidden from interacting with the Corals and vice versa because they got into a fight before splitting.
(Quick version of the conflict:
There were enemies (idk what kind yet) attacking the s.d. and the ones with venom claimed the ones without were slacking off in the fight. Then there was a plan to kill off the ones without venom, which the venom less discovered. So the venomless raided the s.d. base and fled to the deep, hence splitting into the Coral and Abyssal subspecies.
The Corlas became more colorful, festive and diverse and the Abyssals became more muted and warlike to survive.)
As of right now, both subspecies are weary of each other, with the Abyssals worried that the Corals will push them deeper into the ocean, and with the Corals fearing an attack.

that's really interesting how they both fear eachother! the corals don't seem like they'd fight the abbysals, but the abbysals still fear them for what they did in the past, whereas the corals still seem to fear them for the same reason. it adds a very interesting dynamic to the two ^^

My sci-fi verse has a bloodborne disease that affects one of the insectoid alien races commonly in that universe and was responsible for driving the Aeldrian race almost to extinction. The disease, commonly referred to Black Xenophobia or the Devil's Rage by the native Aeldrian population of the planet creates an illness in the species with symptoms very similar to the rl disease Kuru. Unlike kuru, the disease doesn't just target the nervous system, but dna as well, mostly targeting cellular chromosomes. An Aeldrian infected early enough in their lifespan is very vulnerable to the disease hijacking their molting mechanisms and cause disfiguring mutations and extremely aggressive, violent behavior, giving name to the condition.
In fully grown Aeldrians, it tends to be much more survivable in mild cases, mostly causing lasting muscle weakness and sterility. Not exactly a good thing in a race of warriors.

that's really interesting! i'd never heard of Kudu before, but it's really cool that you have a disease based off a real life disease, it helps with realism even with alien species, and i really like your attention to detail with that descision ^^

Frostyfear, I love how you set up the Abyssal Demons! How the mothers can choose if they want their child to have powers, at the risk of their own life, is an amazing idea! Plus the fact of how their relationship became turbulent during wartimes, of all things; stressful situation can either unite people or drive them apart, but you expected these people to unite, which made their breaking that much more shocking! I love it!

World building prompt:
Wellllll, I have dozens of planets in my mythos, sooo...
However, the climate does have a huge impact on the different species. The Dragons, for example, live on an enormous planet with a huge range of climates. Every Dragon used to be very similar, having roughly the same amount of different kinds of magic as the others. However, over time, they began to spread out and adapt to their regions, so they evolved to have only one or two different magics which helped them live in their regions. After their magic became localized, their bodies also began to evolve to suit the magic they had and the region they lived in. During the great war, there were many distinct "races" of dragons. Fire, Water, Air, Nature, Rock, and magicless dragons. Eventually, after the war ended, different races began to breed together, so there are actually very few dragons with only one kind of magic, and instead of races, it's closer to a spectrum. *very abbreviated summary*
While the Dragons are a great example, the Selothi are the most extreme. They live on anextremely volatile planet, where earthquakes happen almost every hour, volcanoes can just decide to exist and kill everything within thousands of miles, and it can get below 50 F (10 C) at night, and over 120 F (29 C) during the day. There is almost no plant life and very few distinct species of animals. The Selothi had to go through a steep learning curve to so much as survive, and millions of years of evolution to thrive. The Selothi didn't start out on this planet; they were originally a multi-planetary species with quadrillions of members. Due to an incident, this became the only habitable planet, and they are no longer space-faring. They used to be long, centipede-like creatures with dozens of short legs and two pars of arms, on short, one long. They used to be covered in hair, and well-adapted to doing extremely fine-tuned tasks. Now, they are long and serpentine, with no legs to be found. They only have one pair of arms, which adapted into crude wings. They have very bony fins on the top of their head and on their tail, and are covered in thick, leathery skin.
These adaptations are very well adapted to their lifestyle. They live on living rafts made of plants on the water, where they won't get crushed by fallings rocks. During the day, they go up into the mountains to hunt, since the fish in the water are very toxic. When an earthquake hits, they use their long body to bridge otherwise uncrossable gaps as the mountains split apart, and once they reach a ledge, they use their wings to glide in the air, away from the falling rocks, until they either reach water or the earthquake stops. They are incapable of powered flight, and they cannot use their wings for anything but gliding. Their bony fins on their tail can be used to slap the water which makes an extremely loud noise, which can either scare away predators or be used as a warning signal to other Selothi. Their head fin is used mainly for signaling, being bright blue and purple in color, and can easily be folded or unfolded, revealing or hiding the color. Their wings also have three long digits, which they use to weave their living rafts.
I'd write out some for my other mythos, but I think I'm going to take a while to think that writing prompt over...

i love the extreme mutations the selothi went under! they are very clearly suited to their new, hostile enviorment and have realistic mutations, adding to the depth of the story and really making it so easy to slip into the story and seeing this happen to them. amazing story telling, by the way, you really drew me in and painted a very in depth picture of their world!
