Even though you look up and inspect the clearing, there isn't anything that could've made the sound.

"I'm the Janitor... I know everything that happens in this school...." he wheezes. "And there has not been a living thing around here since the building closed..." His voice trails off into a shuddering breath. The school is huge, you notice many stairs and hallways that seem to have no end... How odd.

"Why did it close?" i ask, tilting my head as I wait for his answer.

"A snake hole? Do you think I'm some sort of barbarian???" He laughs as he acts mock offended. The Kelp snorts and does a nod of her head. He scoffs back, holding a hand to his chest, as though offended. "Well!" He shakes his head, laughing.
"Look up."

She gave a chuckle at the kelpari and then did look up, not getting ready for some sort of attack. She doubted he was clever enough for that.

You lay low against a pile of logs, collected for the winter. It was going to be a harsh one, but now, there is none. You watch as the people leave, dressed in all their glory... They were knights. From the capital. Even as they ride away, you don't know why they took your parents, only that you want to rescue them. The tundra was rough, but it was always home. Yet, even as you see the last gleams of bright armor in the fading sun, you know it is time to move on.

A fir with low branches is right at the edge. It's the only fir in the area. You don't quite know what made it grow there, but it's the only one with branches you can reach.

"Students started dying... Turns out the drama teacher was a little insane..." He gets a glassy look in his eyes before shrugging and continuing forwards. "He never did quite sit right with me." He keeps walking down the hall.

In the trees, there was nothing at first sight, but as you look, some of the branches have...holes in them. You soon realize that high in the trees is a network of hanging bridges and rooms, hidden in the foliage.

I climb up a few branches hoping that whatever snapped the branch cant see me
