"S-Sir, I did not mean to offend.. I-I had just.. wrongfully assumed that due to your appearance and demeanor that you meant harm to the Empress. It.. is just not often that I am entrusted with the protection of a mortal or her nation. My duties as an Archangel are restricted almost entirely to the heavens.. But.. the Goddess does have her own whims regarding the uses of her own.. soldiers, so to speak. I do not mean to question her methods, but I am.. painfully lacking insight into them and this situation. Again, please forgive me."

He sighed, releasing his weapon. " calm down. Honestly, where would you get the idea that I was here to harm her majesty? I would not have stayed by her side for so long if i was intent on killing her. "

He coughed awkwardly, changing the subject.

" ...I will be fine. There is no need for you to heal him. " He'd probably need a days rest, though. And although with the priest healing him that time would most likely go down, but he still would not place his trust in this man. He was just too suspicious for him.

He didn't want to impose and gave a nod of understanding, leaving the man to his own devices before he found a knife in his throat. He made a mental note to barricade his bedroom door for the night should that come to pass.

Gallagher watched him go, before turning and looking at the Empress for a moment. After a while he turned and headed off to his own chambers to rest for the night. It would be better to not bother the palace doctor for something as trivial as his wounds. He wondered why she worried so much.

Back in his own hideout, Lowell had taken care to try out his theory, successfully managing to pull himself back to human form with some effort. Albeit with some.. lasting minor signs of his new mental resident. His feral, slit blue wolf-like eyes remained along with the pointed stubs of his black antlers and slightly fuzzy ears. He was careful to hide the signs of them with his hair under candlelight, but the newly pointed ears would be much harder. He guessed he could pass as some sort of.. dark elf? They weren't exactly well respected in Arkaos either, but it was far better than the.. demon he was currently.
It was a stretch but he'd need to be very careful about his identity from this point onward, resolving to look into any appearance altering magic if it came his way.

He had done his best for now to make the place more tidy and comfortable, blocking the exits to the outside more thoroughly until he intended to use them now that his hunger had subsided for the moment.
His mind reflexively went to the events over the last few hours as he tried to make sense of things with the Grand Duke and his own sword..

He had never known his own brother to get involved with any such dark magics or individuals of Arkaos, but to see what he had feared come to pass chilled him, leaving him wondering if his brother's own enacted plot to overthrow and defame him was even loosely related to such things..
To control one's mind with dark magic.. He feared that a powerful knowledge would be used far more lucratively in this nation. But to what ends?

They had come up surprisingly empty-handed and now lacking Gallagher's brains to pick, he found himself just growing frustrated..
But he knew one thing for sure.. Unless they both found a way to stop the Grand Duke in his tracks, things would get very ugly here.
