It's because the aeris have max stats. In the statistics area the base stats are 100 for everything, with 2k health. Compared to your highest levelled pet,SwirlLit,

I highlighted in yellow the base stats. Base starts are what your pet starts with at level 0. As you know, after that you get 5 points per level that you can invest in each stat.

Look at just Strength for example. Your pet's base stat is 22, while the aeri's is 100. This means it will take 78 level-up points for your pet to catch up to the aeri. 78 points would be 16 levels. So essentially, the aeri has a 16 level gain on your pet. And that is just strength alone!

All the stats together would net you a 62 level lead over your pet. It's a lot easier to fight with max stat pets as their stats are really above their level.

Now we can see that max stat pets are special. But even so, why would they cost so much. Turns out one gets max stat pets by using philters on their pets when they hatch. The general method is to use prismatic philters which go for 100k+ ea. So the cost of creating max stat pets can be quite high.
