There is a legend, a legend of a star.
The star that created it all. Her name was Zvesda.
Once upon a time, the world was blank, black. And emerging from the blackness came a light. The single Griffi lived lonely in the world for a long time.
To be added later.

Selene had been wandering for days on end in her search for a new home. Some of the other Griffis, jealous of her beauty and her unique genes and mutations, had chased her out off of the mountaintop. Her gaze was drawn to the still visible mountains in the distance.

Selene had decided not to go to one of the other mountains, afraid that she would be chased away again. Instead, she was going to the field that many other Griffis had already left for, just as they did every year. But Selene had never gone to the field before, so she was hopelessly lost.

Selene settled down under one of the snow covered trees to rest. But she just couldn't sleep! Her mind wandered back to the stories told by the other Griffis about the strange creatures that inhabited the field. One of her cousins had told her all about how the strange creatures attacked and captured Griffis and other sylestis, many of whom were never seen again.

Hearing a branch snap, Selene noticed one of the odd creatures walking by with two Zolnixis. The 'nixis ignored her, too absorbed with whatever the creature was saying. Curious, Selene stood and crept closer to to trio.

The 'nixis glared at her, but backed off they saw she meant no harm. Slowly, Selene approached the odd creature, who gave her a gentle smile. Feeling brave, she walked up to the creature and nudged it. Asit began petting her and scratching her in all the right places, Selene couldn't help but purr.

Galaxy
The Galaxy was feeling restless. This didn't happen very often, but it had lots of unspent energies. If this energy wasn't spent soon, it could destroy itself, but if it was spontaneously released, the results would also be disastrous. So, the Galaxy started to try and find a good way to spend its energies. Towards the end of its search, as it was just about ready to give up, it happened upon a planet. It felt there was something about this planet that was special, so the Galaxy checked it out. On the planet, it found a great big storm. In this storm, it sensed an animal, badly injured and about ready to give up on trying to survive. The Galaxy decided this was what its energies were going to be used for, saving this animal. It gathered its energies and sent it down to the animal is the form of a lightning strike. The instant the celestial lightning hit the animal, a peacock, it became a Griffi. The Griffi still retained some of the feathers from her former form, but the whole Galaxy could be seen in her features. That is why, when she met a Sylestian, she was given the name Galaxy.

Sanrei

Sanrei is the guardian spirit of the mountain that she lived on when she was alive. She loved her home so much that when she died defending it and the innocent creatures living in it, her spirit lingered, wanting to protect it forever. The gods chose to grant her her dying wish.

Now, on a misty morning, or in the deep shadows of the night, she can be seen watching. Always watching. The people and animals of the mountain live in peace, knowing that if they are ever in need, Sanrei will come to their aid.

Sanrei means a mountain's guardian deity in Japanese.

Wind rustles gently in the dark, softly glowing blue willows. The still pond remained it's silent watch as it mirrored all of the stars kindly watching upon the Earth. Underneath the dark pond, something moves.
It is small, and frail. Feathers cling to it's damp skin and it opens it's mouth in a silent cry. The royal king staring at it, over the pond, frowns. He carefully crouches down and reaches for the young Griffi. There's a super-nova flash a millisecond before he touches the crystal-still pond and hovering over the pond is a beautiful dark blue fairy, the size of the king's head, with glimmering black feathered wings and twilight-blue eyes. "Stop." Her voice is gentle yet commanding. She kindly glides down to infront of the king. "Only the most loving, loyal, and kind, can touch the pond and the Griffi. You see..."

The Fairy's Tale
"Once, on the very spot you are standing right now, there was a great castle. It was filled with beautiful, jeweled birds that flitted and flew through the castles' walls. It was said that they had magic in them so powerful it could obliterate cities. But it didn't. You see, the ones that were privileged enough to sleep in the grand castle, called them "Heaven's Drops Of Ocean", for their glittering dark blue plumage and dark blue eyes that glittered. Some called them ''Earth's Protectors." But their named were simply, "Ocean's Songbirds." Their songs could heal the deepest wounds, internally, physically, or emotionally. They were like the sisters and brothers of Phoenixes. But from the underground came evil skeletons. They were led by a dark, lethal king dubbed "Death's General." He threatened the castle with volleys of poisoned, vile arrows and flaming, soul-wrenching cannonballs, if they didn't give them the most magical creature on Earth, only found in the castle: The Ocean's Songbirds. The people hid the songbirds, in fear that the king would suck the life out of them and become even more powerful. The songbirds had their own secret, though. Out on a frolic, a young songbird had found a severely wounded family of three Griffis. The father had already died of loss of blood. The mother, a dark purple beauty, pleaded with the songbird to take the newborn Griffi. The young, careful songbird agreed and brought him back. The young Griffi was now a year old and healthy from the songbird care, and the songbirds made their decision as cannonballs whistled through the obliterated Castle's walls, that they would transfer all of their powers into the innocent Griffi. It would destroy all of them, but the songbirds' death would be painless and beautiful. Explaining it to the Griffi, one by one they approached the Griffi and gave them their beautiful voice, their awe-some plumage, and their powerful magic. The magic could only be transferred to someone with the purest innocence, or the most supreme evil. because the Griffi was raised up with the songbirds, she understood their language and meekly agreed. her heart carried sorrow, as her best, her only friends, were leaving her. Eventually all of them were gone, disintegrated into the magic air. The king stormed in, angry but evilly rejoicing that he had destroyed the castle. It was time to find the songbirds. He crashed into the room where the Griffi was standing, softly crying, as it was all alone. Snickering, the king walked over the the baby and reached to pick him up... There was a dark flash and a piercing scream. The king of the underworld was gone. Only the most kindly, loyal, and gentle people can touch innocence."

The royal king nodded as the fairy finished her story. "I am a long descendant of the songbirds. I took a vow to protect the Griffi, until even I am gone into the air." The gentle king nodded, crinkles near his eyes. With a understanding sigh, he stood and turned away from the pond. "I am not worthy to touch Innocence, then." He smiled. His eyes turned golden, and his cape turned silver. A golden shimmering crown appeared over his head. "Krinadon?" The fairy whispered. "Yes." He whispered, and in a soft light, disappeared. The fairy turned her head towards the sky and spotted a small glimmering star with her keen eyes. "You are the worthiest of all." She whispered. And indeed, the young Griffi's name was Innocence.

Imma so sorry it's so long. Ideas just trickled down my hands onto the keyboard. Well I had fun. I hope all others who do this have fun, too!
Also I hope it wasn't too gory.

Best enjoyed while listening to this beautiful piece

You touch the stunning Griffi's coat, surprised at how warm it feels, despite the cold aura emanating from her being. In an instant, you are transferred someplace else; you feel your feet lifting off the ground, and an immense energy travels through your body, making the hairs on your neck stand up. Within a few seconds, you traverse the plains of existence and time, witnessing the beginning and downfall of the planet you call your own, before finding yourself floating above the very world you were just standing on. Suspended in time and space. Still surprised and stirred by what you just experienced, you take a few moments to just stare, taking in the sheer beauty below you, and the vast space around you.

"Vega", a voice proclaims, thundering around you. It is deep, yet soft at the same time, like a mother raising her voice to protect you for the first time. Like gentle forces clashing with immense power. "Vega is my name." You turn to the Griffi beside you, and she looks at you soothingly, assuring you everything you're experiencing is in fact, real, while still keeping you calm, serene like the place you find yourself in.

"Named after one of the brightest stars in our sky, I am a cluster of Winter Wishes." You look at her for a second, confused, before she continues. "Not everyone is lucky enough to enjoy the Great Winter Feast as much as I wish them to. Honest, heartfelt wishes are always heard, although your kind may never notice." Continuing your constant adoration of the abyss around you, you interrupt her for a second; "What do you mean, you're a cluster?" She chuckles, disappointed in your interruption, but impressed by your persistence. "I was about to get to that, have patience.", she says, fondly, before proceeding. "Wishes are gathered in vast, deep pockets scattered all around the universe; black holes as your kind calls them. There, they are pushed together by the sheer forces around them, time nearly stopping as they are allowed to merge into one. After enough wishes are accumulated, the cluster implodes, before bursting into a rainbow of light. From inside, a Sylesti is created, a being created by the purest of essences; that of wishes and dreams. We are given missions, finding and protecting those who needs it most every year during the darkest months of the year. That, child, is why I am here, and why you are here with me. I am finally answering your wishes."

Inspired by how my two cats have helped me through this Christmas, the first one I've celebrated alone. I wish everyone in my situation had them around, nobody should be alone during Christmas if they would rather have company.

Desdemona

Desdemona was never treated fairly. As the princesses head servant, she would attend Arcelia at all of her mothers parties, and serve the guest. She was to present herself nicely and wear her best attire. But even though the princess had the nicest clothes, Arcelia was always jealous, because she thought Desdemona looked better than her. At every party, Arcelia would do something mean to demote Desdemona, like spread rumors about her with the guests, or publicly embarrass her in frount of the guests. Arcelia often asked her mother to get her a new servant, but her mother always said that Desdemona was the best looking servant they had, and she did not want the guests to think that her kingdom was poor. And so at every party Desdemona attended, her self esteem would slowly crumble. But the worst thing that has ever happened to her was not at one of the queens parties, it was in front of all of her friends.

As Desdemona prepares Arcelia's food, Arcelia and her friends set up a trip wire at the entrance to the dining hall, where everyone was getting ready to eat. When Arcelia hears Desemona's footsteps as she walks down the hall, she and her friends run back to their seats. " Arcelia, I am so sorry that your meal took longer than normal," Desdemona shouts across the hall," but I couldn't find your favorite truffles, so I just used the nor-" As Desdemona was speaking, she tripped over the trap Arcelia set up, spilling the food on the ground, and herself. "My gosh! I am so sorry Arcelia, I must have lost my footing there." Desdemona says nervously, and she gets up and wipes the food off her clothes. "DESDEMONA! How dare you prepare my poor daughters food late, and then ruin it all! Go back to the kitchen IMMEDIATELY and prepare another serving! And don't make my poor little princess starve anymore, now GO!" The king yells at Desdemona. Desdemona quickly grabs the bowl that held Arcelia's food and runs back to the kitchen, fearfully.

After Desdemona prepares another serving of Arcelia's food, she runs back quickly, and carefully to the princess." I'm dearly sorry Arcelia, here is your food." Desdemona says quietly. "Its fine, at least you didn't ruin my favorite truffles." Arcelia says, mockingly. "I can't blame you for being unlucky, its what your name means after all!" After Arcelia says that, the whole dining hall bursts into laughter. With eyes full of embarrassment, Desdemona runs out of the dining hall, and into the courtyard.

After running deep into the courtyard, Desdemona sits down and cries. " Why does my name have to mean such a terrible thing!" Desdemona whimpers to herself. After a few minuets of sobbing in self pity, Desdemona hears a voice call her name. She recognizes the queens voice, and she runs out of the courtyard, and into the forest.

Desdemona runs until dawn, and after she finally stops running, she sees a human settlement. The Griffi's in the palace say terrible things about humans, but after what happened in the dining hall, Desdemona decides not to trust them. She runs to a house and jumps inside through a window. When her eyes adjust to the dark room, she sees a female human, with two kids at her side. The humans eyes were filled with fear, and she grabs her children close. Desdemona puts her paws over her head and quivers with fear. One of the kids tears away from her mothers grasp and goes and pets Desdemona. After a few gentle pets, Desdemona removes her paws and looks at the child. Seeing that the child was not afraid, she relaxes a little, and she decides that the other Griffis were wrong. And after a few years, humans having Griffis for pets became common in the town. And as the town grew, more Griffis had homes to live in.

The Oracle Asteria

Listen now to the tales of our world....

Surely you have heard of Asteria, the night-speaker. For many generations, myth tellers and story spinners have spoken of her: a great and magnificent creature who is said to read the future in the stars. Countless heroes and adventurers have sought her guidance and wisdom -- you have heard of her in the tales of their great deeds.

Though she walks this earth in the form of a griffi, she is like any you have ever seen: nearly glowing in the night, with great plumes of beautiful feathers in her wings and tail, and a crest of feathers across her brow like a delicate crown. Some say she glitters like a sky full of stars, and is more stunning to look at than any mountain or forest, and glittering frost and snow. Some say she is not of this earth at all, but is actually a fallen star, come down to guide us as as we wander. A few may even say she disappeared long ago, returned to her home in the sky. But Asteria is out there still, bright eyes tracing the paths of the stars. And perhaps, should you find yourself lost, she will find you.

"What is your name? " I asked, stroking it's feathers.
"Charmadra," it replied. "I come from a far away land. A warlock tampered with my egg, and caused many differences. I can talk, and I have these markings, among other things. He was nice to me, but it could not last. An evil witch found out about me, and stole me away in the night. I escaped, and I have come here."
"Mystic Kit, Tannenbaum, get this poor thing some cocoa." After my Zulnixies do as I ask, I hug the Griffie. "You're safe with us."

Riding the zigzagged pattern of small sea updrafts, the Griffi's long journey neared an end. Her peacock-marked feathers shimmered in a seemingly unending transition of blue and green. The excitement of reaching her destination overcame her tiredness. Usually poised, the majestic creature playfully dipped her toes into the water beneath her. Green-blue water trails glistened, flowing after her in an illusionary tail.

The water shallowed as the beach unfolded before her. Setting down into the water with a slightly undignified splash, the Griffi admired her new homeland. As she scanned the land before her, she noticed two young elves stood agape, staring at her with wonder. That wouldn't do.

Approaching them tentatively, she nuzzled the cheek of the closest. Her touch broke the reserve of the youth and the elf raised his hand, carefully stroking the slightly damp feathers of her neck. His younger sister hid slightly behind him.

"It's like she's made from the horizon," his sister's voice was little more than a whisper.

"Made where the sea and the sky meet," he replied. His hand was lost in the soft feathers before him.

"Let's call her Skymeet!"

"No, that's terrible!" He countered.

The Griffi agreed and snorted.

"Sea sprite, then." His sister tried.

Another snort.

"I don't think she likes that," the boy grinned. "How about Horizon's Hope?"

A new home and a new name. Hope did indeed blaze in her breast. The Griffi bowed her head in acknowledgement.

"She likes it!" The younger elf crowed, moving from behind her brother.

With both the children now petting her coat, the Griffi's playful side once more returned. Squeals erupted from the two elves as she shook the last of the water from her feathers.
