Spotted kittens

Zima nervously stepped closer to Yae. "Wh-where is this Hunter?"

"Nobody really knows. But lots of folks think they live in the Enigmatic Grotto."

Zima gulped, not sure of this plan anymore. But she had to do it. She had to do it for Zuri. She squared her tiny shoulders and nodded. "Alright, Yae. We can do this."

"Sure we can if we put our minds to it. Mind if I ride on your back?"

"Nope." Zima gently assisted her new friend caterpillar onto her furry back. Then she was off, walking tirelessly for many, many miles.

Soon the shadows between the trees became longer, the tall plants themselves becoming almost twisted. But that may have been the young Sylestis imaginations messing with them. They trembled as mysterious sounds would drift into their ear canals. Zima sniffed the air, but only received musty forest. She hadn't learned how to track properly yet.

"What does this Hunter look like, Yae?" She asked.

"I have no idea," was the reply.

Suddenly, a twig snapped and Zima whipped around. Her fur stood on end as a band of starving looking Lupora stalked out of the shadows. Yea squirmed and whimpered, hiding further into her furry friend's fur. This must be the end!

A dark figure leaped over the tiny Sylestis and landed between them and the Lupora. A Puffadore stood there bravely holding her ground. "I thought I told you to stay out of this part of the woods!" She snarled. She snapped her teeth at the Lupora and they yelped, quickly fleeing the scene. The Puffadore turned and Zima screamed, seeing that where the Puffadore's face should be.... where it SHOULD be.... was a skull.

Spotted Kittens

As she was eavesdropping, Rey felt something brush against the tip of her tail. Although it was probably just a vine or branch, it was enough to send Rey leaping with fright down the hill. This nosy ball of fluff landed in a heap right between the lune and vul hatchlings.
Okay Im sorry, Im sorry! Look, I overheard my denmates talking about Zima and I just had to find out for myself if the stories were true, that you handed your own sister over as an offering in exchange for the Great Candy Key. Because, you know, as the story goes... You must sacrifice blood to enter the enchanted pumpkin patch. But while I was looking for you I got turned around in the bushes and now its too dark to find my way back! If only I knew the woods better, I could show you where that epic shadow hunter is. In fact, he happens to be a part of my pack.

Zima was incredibly happy that Yae believed her! Finally she had a friend who would help her. Maybe this mysterious Hunter would help her, too!

"Thank you so much, Yae! Where do we find the Hunter?"

Yae munched thoughtfully on her leaf before replying, "I think I heard something about him being somewhere near the Enigmatic Grotto.

Zima could feel her fur standing up. She heard tales of how dangerous that place was. If that was where the Hunter was though then that would be where they had to go.

Grotto.

The pair walked through the forest towards the enigmatic grotto. The sun which had dappled through the leaves earlier, was now hidden behind the clouds. A chilly breeze whispered through the trees. The atmosphere became decidedly gloomy.
"Are you sure we are going the right way", Zima asked a trifle nervous. Yae nodded while munching her leaf. "Yup. You can tell by the moss on the rocks. This kind only grows in the grotto."

Suddenly both paused at a noise comming from ahead of them. "Hmmm wonder what that is?", Yae whispered. Zima twitched her ears and sniffed the breeze before hissing in shock. "A troll. There's a troll ahead". Yae looked about. "Sounds like it's heading this way. Quick hide behind that old log before it spots us." The two leapt behind the log scarcly daring to breathe as the hulking creature rounded the bend.

Grotto
Just at that that second, a rustling sound approached. Zima whipped around her head trying to find what
made it. It sounded big, or there was more than one. Zima and Yae jumped up in surprise as two ghostly blue zolnixi pups leaped out of the tall grass. They sighed in relief, but then noticed they were siblings. "Oh hello!" said the Older one to the even older hatchlings. Then he tilted his head toward the younger one, who was covered in rainbow markings, " I am Ghost, and that is my brother, Phantom!" Phantom stared at Yae and Zima with seriousness, " I heard what you are looking for. The Hunter right? I have heard of him, in fact I KNOW him. I can lead you right to him. Follow me. That goes for you too, brother," Phantom whispered, " Ghost does not know the Hunter." The four of them set off deeper into the Grotto.

Grotto

Yae sat nestled up in Zima's soft fur as they made their way through Umbra forest towards the Enigmatic Grotto. The tiny lunemara continued to chomp down on her leaf as they stepped over roots that had somehow escaped the cold, hard ground. "You know, it's getting kinda creepy out here... should we go back?" Yae whispered, glancing about at the twisted, towering trees. Zima looked around and studied their surroundings. "First of all, we are not going back until we have found Zuri... and we couldn't even if we wanted to. Yae, I think we're lost." Suddenly, a hollow, ghostly voice sounded from behind them "Lost?," it said "Why you can't be lost, you've found me... if you're with me you'll never be lost again. At least not physically. I can be quite mentally.....confusing.". Yae snuggled even deeper into Zima's fur and squeaked in terror as the young vulnyx stepped back and tucked her long tail between her legs. "Oh no, don't be scared. It's just me..." A purple hued ryori stepped out from the shadows and swiftly made his way toward them. Yae instantly brightened up and said, in awe,: "It's the Hunter..."

In the Grotto

As Zima stepped into the Enigmatic Grotto, everything was eerily quiet. Her paws trembled as she took cautious steps along the mossy rocks. Her only comfort was the fuzzy caterpillar that sat on her back, nestled securely in the fur around the cub's neck. Yae had been quiet during most of the journey, soft leaf munching noises the only sign that the small bug was even still there. It made her feel much better knowing that she was not alone in this spooky place.

Tall trees with lichen clinging to their trunks rose up on either side of the rocky path they were on, their dark silhouettes intimidating in the fading light, but Zima knew she could not turn back. She needed to find her sister and that thought drove her onward where the sound of water dripping was starting to reach her ears. Her sharp eyes spotted the mouth of a cave up ahead and when Yae stirred excitedly on her back she knew that this was their final destination.

Slowly, Zima approached the entrance to the cave. Stalactites and stalagmites jutted from top and bottom, looking so much like gnashing teeth that it made her heart beat wildly in her chest. Even her acute, feline eyesight could not see very far into the cave, but she saw when two bright pinpoints of light appeared in the darkness.

"Who has disturbed my home?" hissed an ominous voice, "And why have you come here?" Zima knew...this was the Hunter.

Grotto

The pair stood in front of Umbra forest. The trees were tall and covered in leaves that blocked the suns rays so they wouldn't reach the ground. As the pair looked ahead, the gaps between the trees got darker and they could barely see a few meters ahead.

Zima turned to Yae. "So this is the last challenge before we meet the Hunter?"
"Yes, the Enigmatic Grotto should be just through here." Replied Yae.

The pair looked at each other and nodded in agreement before stepping into the forest. As they made their way deeper into the forest they couldn't see where they had come from or where they were heading. They stopped to try and work out where they were when they heard scratching in the trees above them. The pair looked up, the only thing they could see were piercing red eyes.

"What business do you have in the forest?" the figure enquired in a gruff voice.
Yae recognized those piercing red eyes. "You're the Hunter in the Shadows" Yae muttered.

Zima's eyes widened. They'd found the Hunter, now to get his help.

Grotto
Zima took a deep breath in, mustering up as much courage as she could. Yae, I think we should try looking near the Grotto, since its the only lead we have. However, Im not sure where it is, or how to get there. Zima kneeled down for her caterpillar friend to crawl up onto her head.
Well, Yae made herself comfy in a tuft of Zimas fur, I have a friend who knows this land well. His name is Glenn, and he visits the Umbra Forest around this time every year. Im sure he could guide us to the grotto, even through this murky darkness.
That is fantastic! Zima mewed with delight, Where can we find him, Yae?
There is a rather small pumpkin patch not far from here where he likes to frolic in the loose hay. Its um.. Yae scampered down to the bridge of Zimas muzzle. That way! Yae pointed in the direction of some yellow toadstools. Zima bounded over the rocks and roots until they came to the edge of the clearing where playing among the pumpkins was a little ryori kit.

Glenn
Whos that lurking in the trees? Called the little kit, Have you come to prank the prankster?

Grotto

"Okay, let's go!"

Zima and Yae headed towards what they thought was the Enigmatic Grotto. After a few hours of wandering around, they realized they were going in the wrong direction.

"Oops..." Yae says. "I thought we were going towards the Grotto."

"No worries. It's not like anything bad's happened," Zima replied. She hears the sound of trolls. "Yet..."

"RUN!!!" Yae screeches, and the two rush back towards where they came from.
