This avatar is inspired by the Shadow Vampire and his ghost pet Ryori in the story I submitted for the Spooky Stories contest! His hair and eyes are white/light blue representing the way he died, freezing to death. The Ryori is green because it is a ghost. The background represents the Village of Ferrikki on the night the story takes place. (Thread link here, my story is on the near bottom of the 2nd page)

Sentry of the Underworld

If you are foolish enough to wander into a crypt on All Hallow's Eve, when the boundaries between the worlds are blurred, something strange may await.

You know how our world has been touched by the incredible magical workings of sorcerers, wizards, and warlocks. In every forgotten corner, eldritch spells cling onto their last scraps of power, waiting for some foolish traveler to stumble upon them. And in this particular crypt, there waits a door.

After all, what better place to create an entrance to another world than where our dead are laid to rest?

As you creep past heavy stone coffins, each step stirring up swirls of century-old dust, you may find it. It is hewn from black marble, smooth, pristine, with neither keyhole nor handle. Yet it stirs the moment you touch it, sliding with a rumble to allow you through. Stairs fade into darkness.

For some reason, you are foolish enough to begin descending. With each step you take, faint runes glow and fade, just enough to see the stairs in front of you.

And eventually, the stairs begin to taper, and a red glow appears in the distance. The frigid night air of fall gives way to a faint warmth that gives way to a sweltering heat.

And then you see it.

I would hesitate to call it 'he' or 'she or 'they', because if you brushed aside the rags of its armor, you would see the remnants of crumbling, mummified flesh marked with swirls of golden runes. Perhaps nothing but a forgotten mages indomitable will keeps this hollow shell moving.

But it stands in front of another door, this one heavy and ironclad with knockers carved like human faces twisted in pain or anger or fear. Chains fasten the metal to solid bedrock, and what must be over a dozen locks are built into it.

It is unmoving, unbreathing, waiting for someone. For something. But not you.

If you choose to run, this is your chance. Sprint as fast as you can up the spiraling staircase, back to the crypt that you foolishly decided to enter. Leave the graveyard, do not stop until you are safely at home with the doors locked.

Whatever you choose to do, I hope that you do not approach the doors. I promise you, what waits beyond them is worse.

Once, long ago, a bold pirate crew sailed forth onto the great seas. A storm loomed on the horizon, but the captain of the ship was a proud and arrogant woman. She led her crew into the heart of the storm, defiant in the face of nature's wrath. For her insolence, the spirit of the sea struck her down: her ship ran afoul of a reef and sank in uncharted waters.

All souls aboard the ship perished... except for the reckless captain, who remained trapped between life and death. Horns of bone sprouted from the ruined remains of her once-beautiful face, which she covered with a mask fashioned from cloth bandages. Blood soaked the bandage-mask, no matter how many times she tried to stop the flow.

It is said that even now, she still roams the seas on the darkest of nights. Even now, she fights against the spirit of the sea, vowing to prevail. She wanders with sea-wolves at her heels, her way lit by eerie candles, and she seeks unwary travelers to join her crew once more. And even now, her mask of bandages remains blood-red.

Will you sign the contract? Choose carefully: a contract signed with the lost captain is a contract signed in blood.

The moon shivers over a quite path. The darkest secrets begin to rise. A fairy princess creeps through the light. A secret message she must send. For death or life the bat must fly, or else the secret will draw neigh.

Sari'kar had been waiting millennia to be released. He knew that his chains made even the smallest touch of freedom impossible, but that was fine by him. He didn't need to leave this miserable cage of a realm with so many others as long as his darling pet Kash'de could. She would sneak into the world to influence others into weakening his restraints just right so that he could be free once more, just as she had done in the physical realm.
Sari'kar knew he could wait centuries longer to be released. More than anything else, he wanted to feel the gentle hand of the warm sun on his skin again. It made him feel alive as he razed the world to the ground.

As long as it follows all of the stated rules to this contest, yes.

yes but it says " Please do not re-use any previous Avatar Dress Up submissions. You must create a new Character" so does that mean all contests or the ones that are the official avatar dess-up contests?

That clause is specifically just referring to Official contests only.
