I'm a pretty huge fan of lizards, so maybe something based off of the huge exotic reptiles (or any other reptile, really. Snakes, dinosaurs, gators, etc.)

Don't get me wrong, I love animal based designs, but how about some based on lesser-known mythological creatures (like the Kelpari)? (apologies if any of these have been said already)
Here are some of my favorites:
-Enfield. While you might think that this would be too similar to a zolnixi, there's some very interesting designs to be had there
-Wolpertinger. It's a jackelope, but better.
-Mishipetsu/ Mishipeshu/ Mishibijiw. Huge aquatic panthers with horns that supposedly live in Lake Superior
-Peryton. Sort of like a deer hippogriph
(the above were from imgur user stopitcharlesgetoutofmyhead's series lesser-known mythical creatures)
-Raiju. The inspiration for pikachu, an electric weasel (It's japanese)
-Baku. I'd love to see something elephant-inspired, and this is a neat way to have that but still being very unique
-Amarok. Why do so many mythological creatures stem from dogs and wolves???
-Camazotz. Giant Mayan bat
-Akhlut. Orca wolf!
-Bunyip. Fun name, not so fun crocodile walrus

That's all for now, sorry for the long post!

Maybe something like this?

Possible pet info ideas:
Health: 200
Strength: 22
Dexterity: 20
Intelligence: 24
Agility: 24
Mana: 100

General Information:
These sylestis are found wild in more dry areas, as they have many abilities to survive out there. They hunt many sylestis that are considered small, and are easily able to decieve and escape predatory species. They are most common as pets, due to their generally non-aggresive natures. While they aren't to rare, people still pay alot of money to get them due to the fact that they don't bite or harm other pets.

Behavior:
While they are not aggresive towards pets or owners, they are high maintenance, and don't quickly warm up to people. They hate water, and if someone they don't completely trust attempts to get them wet, they immediately grow mad and won't want to be friends. However, once they have warmed up to you, they are very friendly and patient, and would go out of their way to make sure you are doing well.

Physical features
They appear to have some sort of hat, however nobody really knows where it came from. When the hat is removed, the moment the remover puts the hat down, it's almost as if it vanishes and appears back on the pet.

They have short fur, but a tuft of longer fur at their tail's end. They have slim builds, and if they are being overfed, they tend to ignore the extra food, so there has hardly ever been a chubby one. They don't dry out easily, however, due to the fact that they live in hot deserts, they can easily freeze. They have long claws, but they are completely retractable, and unless hunting, they keep them retracted.

Possible names:
Ahkatmal (scrambled letters of base word)
Alraqim (Taking segments of each word)
