Hello all! Lady Paragon here with my entry for the contest. Because I'm such bookworm there is a long blurb that frames up my choice nicely, but I'll post the pretties first and then those that are interested can read why :D

Groom

Bride

FYI ~ Groom has visible traits of Faded Teardrops & Peacock Crest; Bride has visible traits of Finned Crest and Peacock Tail. Neither carry any traits beyond that.

Alrighty then, so here we go on the reading part of this post. On Wikipedia I came across the following heading and was inspired:

(txt taken from Wikipedia)

Chaucer's love birds

Jack B. Oruch writes that the first recorded association of Valentine's Day with romantic love is in Parlement of Foules (1382) by Geoffrey Chaucer.[21] Chaucer wrote:

For this was on seynt Volantynys day
Whan euery bryd comyth there to chese his make.

["For this was on St. Valentine's Day, when every bird cometh there to choose his mate."]

This poem was written to honor the first anniversary of the engagement of King Richard II of England to Anne of Bohemia.[41] A treaty providing for a marriage was signed on May 2, 1381.[42] (When they were married eight months later, they were each only 15 years old).

Readers have uncritically assumed that Chaucer was referring to February 14 as Valentine's Day; however, mid-February is an unlikely time for birds to be mating in England. Henry Ansgar Kelly has pointed out that Chaucer could be referring to May 3, the celebration in the liturgical calendar of Valentine of Genoa, an early bishop of Genoa who died around AD 307.[41][43][44] Jack B. Oruch says that date for the start of Spring has changed since Chaucer's time because of the precession of equinoxes and the introduction of the Gregorian calendar in 1582. The date would correspond to the modern 23 February, a time when some birds have started mating and nesting in England.[21]

Chaucer's Parliament of Foules is set in a fictional context of an old tradition, but in fact there was no such tradition before Chaucer. The speculative explanation of sentimental customs, posing as historical fact, had their origins among 18th-century antiquaries, notably Alban Butler, the author of Butler's Lives of Saints, and have been perpetuated even by respectable modern scholars. Most notably, "the idea that Valentine's Day customs perpetuated those of the Roman Lupercalia has been accepted uncritically and repeated, in various forms, up to the present".[15][45]
There were three other authors who made poems about birds mating in St. Valentine's Day around the same years: Otton de Grandson from Savoy, John Gower from England, and a knight called Pardo from Valencia. Chaucer most probably predated all of them, but, due to the difficulty of dating medieval works, we can't know for sure who of the four had the idea first and influenced the others.

So there you go, a matrimonial pair of Aurleon just clicked for me and hope you all like them ( now that they can be seen :D )
Hugs to all my fellow Sylestian's,
Lady P

Male: Shows Shadow wings, carries Petal Markings and Water Tiger
Famale: Shows Petal Markings, Carries Galaxy and Water Tiger

Offspring with highest possible visibles:

I think it is pretty obvious that they are based on Valentine Chocolates, their colours are kind of close to some of the desserts in the Sudoku puzzle. XD
And the male shows Shadow Wings instead of Galaxy because I like the mutation and wanted to have some variety. It won't affect the offspring's visible trait since it is recessive to Galaxy.

Robert Silvermyst adn Lilly Fontaine. These are the two main protagonists of my visual novel (still in the making) Kingdom of Furgasta: The Demon War. Robert is the youngest prince of the Silvermyst royal family, only to have his world turned upside down when his brother, who was kidnapped over ten years prior, returns possessed by the Archdemon Nizamoff, leading an army of demons. Cast down a waterfall and left for dead, Robert is rescued by a traveling ranger named Lilly who pulls him from the river. The two travel throughout the land to gather survivors, and grow closer as they travel. Their love blossoms and eventually Lilly bears their children.

However, this love story takes a tragic turn. During the final battle, Lotus, a demon who had given her aid to Robert, pulls the archdemon from Simon Silvermyst's body, only for the Arcdemon to take on a powerful, physical form from all of the souls he had devoured. The Archdemon proves too powerful, and unleashes an attack of demonic energy that would obliterate anyone it hit. The attack meant for Robert is intercepted by Lilly. It is then revealed to Robert that she was the avatar of the Goddess Hethert, the goddess of love, sent to the world for the express purpose of this foreseen tragedy. Lilly transforms into pure energy and fuses that energy into Robert, turning him into an Archangel. With a new pair of wings and new powers, the prince takes on the Archdemon, ultimately destroying Nizamoff, turning him into pure energy, and using that energy to repair the tear between the mortal realm and the demon realm. She is now an eternal part of Robert, and while she is no longer amongst the living, she lives within him.
