It may or may not change as I work on the shading in terms of linework. c:'
Often times when I draw the outcome isn't exactly as it appeas in the "stage" before it, but I certainly understand your points of concern on simplicity.

I wasn't the original artist for the Zolnixi, but I was for the Lupora and I've learned a lot since they were first created. In addition, we have since gained other staff that are amazing at what they do and each species is really a collaboration now, so I've complete confidence that, although they are similar now, the Lupora and Zolnixi will be really distinguishable in their own rights once the revamps are complete. :)

Maybe you should try reading your post over in a calm state of mind before posting then, Cloud? It doesn't really make people more apt to take your suggestions to heart when you tell them they're flat out wrong, and come off in a manner that can be taken very negatively, and almost aggressive.

A few counter points i'd like to add:

I could keep circling yet more examples of where supportive lines continue to aid the shading in creating depth and implications of furriness, but I think you can get the idea here. You're kind of asking for their removal, and using something that has loads of them (The Lighira) and looks the better for it as an example of why supportive shading lines are not needed. :)

I shall respectfully have to disagree, as you will never get the same depth of field out of pure black and white shading which is how a template for a pet site must be set up, without any supportive lines. Removing some of the supportive lines from the Lighira, for example, would honestly make it much blander, and take away from the shading if anything. Not add to it. I did a quick messy example of what that might look like, if you applied the theory of not needing any linework to imply furriness in the Lighira:

I'd also like to counter that positioning the female cubs' ear in the way you did suggests body language of flicking the ears back, something done by canines when feeling upset. She doesn't look upset to me, and her three quarters view doesn't physically require her back ear to factor into foreshortening like that, so I don't see why you would want her to pin her ear back, which is a body language signal in canines.

I like the new design, definitely looks more fox-like and detailed :) my only issue, which I'm not even entirely sure how to put, is that they look a little too...cheery? Like their smiles are maybe a little too big and inviting. One of the things I really like about the Zolnixi is its serious, sort-of-smiling but more smug or proud and calm kind of look, if that makes sense.

Oooh, I'm so excited to see what my starter looks like after the revamp! Loving the preliminary linework, and with some of the suggestions from the community implemented, I bet they'll be absolutely wonderful! So floofy!

Looking good! The female ear seems like it might be tilted a bit too far, but it might just be because there isn't color yet.
