My favorite species will probably have to be zolnixis. I loved the cute playful look the females have. It took me some time to start appreciating the luporas and puffadores.

When I started playing Sylestia, I found the Luporas' huge ruff of fur down the spine off-putting. I've gotten used to the look now, but I have so far managed to resist the urge to begin collecting Luporas because the male Lupora's expression is so worried/sad.

My starter is a Zolnixi because I adore foxes and always have, and they remain my favorite species. While the Zolnixi revamp improved the Zolnixi's look overall, I do miss the pointy nose and sly smile of the "old" Zolnixi todd. (Yes, I call male and female Zolnixies "todds" and "vixens." I am not likely to stop doing this.)

Puffadores are pretty obviously analogous to toy dogs. I just wish the male Puff had a smile; all male Puffs look so grim/annoyed.

Oh, my latest Lavender Latte Puff is now a teenager! I named her "Counting Sheep"--

Favourite to least: Puffadore, Zolnixi, Lupora. This could change in the future when puffadores and luporas get their revamp.

I love wolves and foxes but I think the art for the puffs is more refined than luporas, and I like the puff traits more than the zolnixi. *shrug* I want to collect more 6V puffadores, which I've started working on again. I have so many 6V zolnixis that need to be dyed. Zolnixis are just too easy to obtain (bought nearly all of mine for 1-10 gold each). x_x

For the revamp I hope luporas look more vicious like how the morkko turned out. They also need a lot more detailing and that's why for now they aren't my favourite canine.

Side note: Just bred my 6V Delphinium Bouquet pair last night!

For me it is Lupora > Zolnixi > Puffadore

My favourite canine genus is the Lupora! I like the despondent looks on the males; it reflects the existential struggle of their 'lone wolf' archetype it makes them look baddass. The smile on the females make them look like tricksters, which is something I dig.

I fell in love with Genus Zolnixi simply because I ran across a rainbow one (Amaguq) in the very early days...(I didn't know you could get rainbow pets!) and it stuck.

My liking of Genus Puffadore occurred only recently and mostly by accident (I ended up with a lot of tokens because ethernia rep and lunemara apple quest). Also when I started joking about there being a GIANT PUFFADORE...I actually kinda wished for it, so now I imagine that all puffadore are Godzilla sized.

Actually, how are we classifying these canines? Are they all part of the same genus or do they belong to separate ones?

I thought if the zolnixi resemble foxes, then they might belong to a different genus to lupes and puffadores (but they'd be in the same family).

Well, if we presume that luporas are wolves and puffadores are domestic toy breed dogs, they would be the same genus AND species. That's because wolves and dogs are the same species and under the right circumstances, can interbreed. Foxes (if Zolnixis are foxes) cannot interbreed with either of the other two. So you are right. Side note--since there is no natural way for a wolf-sized lupora to breed with a toy-sized (perhaps pomeranian-sized) puffadore, they might as well be different species since the only way they could reproduce is with the aid of a petri dish and some scientific finagling.
