So, if you capture a sylestie displaying the dominant phenotype, you don't know if she/he is carrying the recessive allele along with the dominant? For example, you could capture two butterfly zolnixis and end up with spirit flames a1/4 of the time (if they're both carrying).
On a side note, I just bred a female butterfly zolnixi to a spirit flame male and (happily) got a spirit flame female.
AFAIK, wild Sylesties displaying a trait will always have matching alleles. Unless the butterfly Zol you used was a wild?
I caught this vulnyx long time ago, but I just found out she has different alleles.

I think the funniest thing that happened to me with breeding is I Bought this gorgeous Male Zolnixi from person A. L8r person B posted some zolnixi they wanted to get rid of for Person C, C took some of their pets but left one in particular behind, and i asked if i could have this lovely lil lady. I got her for a steal, and I was expecting the lady to be at least 1k. After i bought her i began to breed my zolnixis, and i have a ton for my breeding project. When I tried breeding my Male and female i had stated above i found they were acctually siblings XD It seems person B had either bought the lady from person A or their was some middle ppl. either way it was very unexpected, but luckily i had multiple male and female zolnixi. LOL

that happened to me too! Although it was a little stranger. Pet A was bought from one person and bred me a baby (Pet B) I acquired Pet C from someone else and tried to breed my bred pet (Pet B) To the other Pet, (Pet C) and they are related due to pet A....

Okay so I'm going for a 4vis.
Yes, I have the patience. But, I bought 2 enhanced essences and have the parents carrying the 4 genes.
Now, it'll take me a LONG time to get that ONE pet I want, I know. But that IS how I'm to do that right? xD Cause...I hated biology and sucked at it as well. And this post made /some/ sense to me, to where I think I did it right? xD

@Kodii,
If the carrying genes in the same slot, then YES. You're doing it right.

Not sure if I missed this, but if one parent shows a trait (say a lupora with lunar runes) and the other parent has nothing, will the lunar runes be a carried trait on the offspring?

@Reynbowz,
I think this may have been asked, in one form or another. My question is to do with dominant and recessive gene. I'm not too sure how it all works, but by my testing the genes/mutations are alphabetized A, B, C, D etc. Is A always the dominant to every other gene? And by that would B always be dominant to C etc, C always dominant to D etc, so on and so-forth
Example: Ny'vene
Male has in Gene Two: Red Admiral Markings (hidden)
Female has in Gene Two: Cecropia Markings (Hidden)
Going by what I have learned Cecropia Markings = A, and Red Admiral Markings = B. when I test these two in the breeder the offspring comes up with Cecropia Markings, and when I put the image in a new tab (as I have come to understand is an ideal way to test what genetics the Sylesti has) I note that in gene two it has AB. I'm just wondering if it could ever be BA?
